Free Erceg....Demuth

It is time to free Lucas Erceg from the northern mountains. Send him past Wisconsin to Florida and move Demuth to Biloxi. Erceg has nothing more to prove at Low A and Wisconsin is set with youngsters at 3B.

This gives Gatewood a complete season at Wisconsin where he is doing good and challenges our other 3B prospects.

Across the diamond, Garrett Cooper should be promoted to Colorado Springs. He's been the only consistent bat in Biloxi all year.

Heading to Appleton tomorrow, really excited to see him, Gatewood and Diaz. I would guess that Erceg will DH so they can let Gatewood keep working in his D, no?

Good idea on Erceg. I always thought he was placed too low and I predicted he would tear up rookie ball.

It's like when I played age limited youth baseball. I had a later birthday for my year, and so I was eligible to play with guys essentially a year or two younger than me. I raked, but I felt guilty because I was the older guy for that level, lol.

Erceg is very promising as a two-way player.

Sounds like Gatewood will play 3B, 1B and OF. Hopefully Erceg crushes and this is just a short stop for him on the way to Florida and then Biloxi next year.

Yah hopefully he mashes to the tune of a .400 average at Wisconsin and gets a short stop at Brevard before next season. I think he stays at Wisconsin all year though.

Sthervin Matos was released. He had been playing outfield. Maybe they would put Gatewood out there? Seems strange though. Just when he seemed to be making progress at 3rd.

yup, very questionable to move Gatewood off the most needed position on the big club. Gatewood is huge, he'd be a great target at 1B, but is holding his own at 3B, and we desperately need a 3B to come down the pipe...

There's a month and a half left in the season. I'd be wringing my hands if it was May 19 or even June 19, but it's July 19th. If Gatewood is eligible for fall instructional league I'm sure he's heading there and will be back at 3B getting more reps. Based on his production, I'd have him back at low-A next season with Erceg at high-A.

I did not think my words were listened to that closely!

Nice job! Now fix Phillips, Coulter, and Medeiros and get them promoted!

Coulter needs to be "freed". Two full years playing in the Florida steam is too much. I am not sure about the other two.

He can always move back once/if Erceg passes him up and goes to A+. Also he will still get playing time at 3B.
