The Red Sox have been banned from international signings. Start going after their prospects:

I think the bigger news is that the contracts they had with five players from the 2015-2016 signing period have been voided. Those players will retain their signing bonuses, but are free to sign with other clubs. The first $300K does not count towards a team's pools in the upcoming period.

Those are the guys to go after.

The Brewers have reportedly signed SS Antonio Pinero, who was one of the kids the Red Sox had originally signed.

Piniero is from Venezuela, he is 6' 1", 155 - a switch hitter.

17-year-old switch-hitting SS Antonio Pinero (VEN), signed after his Red Sox contract was voided, 0-for-4 (one K) in his DSL Brewers debut today.

More on the game later on...

Maiker Pinto got the start and went 6 innings for a no decision. He gave up 6 hits and struck out 3. Two of the hits were HRs. The Brewers had the lead until this mess:

DSL Braves Bottom of the 8th

Defensive Substitution: Luis Avalo replaces catcher Jose Sibrian, batting 4th, playing catcher.

Defensive Substitution: Javier Castillo replaces third baseman Aaron Familia, batting 7th, playing third base.

Juan Morales walks.

With Luis Ovando batting, wild pitch by Wilfred Salaman, Juan Morales to 2nd.

Luis Ovando flies out to right fielder Bryan Connell.

Jeffrey Ramos flies out to center fielder Jesus Lujano.

Jean Carlos Encarnacion flies out to right fielder Bryan Connell.

--and then this in the 10th:

DSL Braves Bottom of the 10th

Juan Morales grounds out, shortstop Antonio Pinero to first baseman Moises Perez.

Luis Ovando triples (5) on a line drive to right fielder Bryan Connell. Luis Ovando scores. Missed catch error by catcher Luis Avalo.

Well Luis Avalo will work on that catching defense. (or maybe just stick to first base).

Heading into Monday night, Biloxi was last in the Southern League in batting average, OBP, and SLG. You don't have to think too hard to determine they're last in OPS ;).

Southern League Team Batting Statistics

***

You'll notice that Brevard County is not last in the 12-team Florida State League in any of those three categories (but they're close)

Florida State League Team Batting Statistics

For Daily Link Report readers, betcha most would have thought, relative to their league, the Manatees' offense was weaker. But they'd be wrong...

So, do the Brewers have any plans for Brooks Hall? Seems like he bounces around a lot from pen to rotation. He used to be one of our most promising starters.

Not unless they plan on making him an offer for 2018; Hall's a minor league free agent this fall.

Rattlers Drop Road Trip Finale at Dayton

Dragons avoid sweep with 8-3 win over Wisconsin

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Wisconsin Boxscore

Thomas Jankins could use a do over in his start with WI, this year's 13th rounder hasn't hit the ground running. David Lucroy is a legitimate professional pitcher, he's got some skills, but I've grown leery of his appearances.

I'm sure Chris will cover the meager offensive contributions in the game story, this just wasn't a good effort on a getaway day, which is rather typical at this level of baseball.

Enough is enough. Time for Erceg to go to Brevard.

What's the rush? His defense is awful.

Absolutely insane what OF Mitch Haniger is doing in 2016, now that he's fully healthy, check the numbers at that link before viewing Sunday's highlight --

He had a pretty good year last year too. I think some were a little too quick to anoint him a low-ceiling wasted draft pick. Still only 25, he was in AA less than two years after being drafted. The Brewers players who saw him at spring training were pretty high on him for a reason.

Shuckers drop rubber match to Barons, 2-0

Brooks Hall tossed seven shutout innings with a season-high eight strikeouts

Biloxi Shuckers

Biloxi Boxscore

If Brooks Hall would continually strike out batters like he did today he could make me a believer, his K rate has significantly improved, but it's not elite. It's actually somewhat hard to believe he's already 26.

MH already bagged on the Biloxi offense so I won't do it again, I'll just point out that in the last 3 games combined the Shuckers have collected just 8 total hits. It doesn't matter how good the pitching is when the offense does so little per game.

What's the rush? His defense is awful.

But it is looking like his bat is too advanced to be in rookie ball. And he can't really go to Wisconsin. He can work on defense in Florida where the field conditions are generally better than the Pioneer League.
