Via the Transaction Thread --

Two exciting moves become official via MiLB.com --

19-year-old RHP Marcos Diplan (Yovani Gallardo trade) will surely be one of the Florida State League's youngest pitchers now, if not the youngest, as he jumps up a level from Wisconsin.

And recently-turned 20-year-old RHP Trey Supak, who along with Keon Broxton came over in the Jason Rogers deal, is officially added to the Timber Rattlers' roster from Helena, where the Pirates' competitive balance round 2014 pick (73rd overall) posted a stellar 0.76 WHIP in his first 14 Brewer organization innings.

Congrats to both (and to us, who get to follow along)!

By the way, the Timber Rattlers don't need to make a corresponding move, looks like the Manatees will need to, in order to reach the 25-man roster limit.

You will read at the link above how very successful Aaron Wilkerson's Brewers organization debut was -- that's how you embrace pitching in the Springs, boys! Already in his Sky Sox cap!

Wilkerson threw 100 pitches in his last outing on the 2nd[/b], so not sure why he was limited to 62 pitches and four innings here; as you just read, Tyler Cravy's injury is "undisclosed" for now.

We can only hope Wilkerson was limited to 62 pitches because they want him strong in his next start wearing a Brewer uniform.

Final (11 innings): Bradenton 6, Brevard County 5

Marauders walk-off Manatees in Sunday matinee

By Donald Rieber, Jr., 27 Outs Baseball

***

Brevard County Box Score

Manatees fall victim to a second straight walk-off loss in extra innings.

Clint Coulter (5-for-6, 2B, HR) had quite an offensive game statistically, although he downplayed it in his post-game interview with MiLB.com. Coulter became the second Manatee in consecutive days to have an MiLB feature story (Ponce yesterday).

Corey Ray (2-for-6) with consecutive multi-hit games. Ray was thrown out at home in the 11th inning on Coulter's infield single.

Other multi-hit games were SS Jose Cuas (2-for-4, 2-2B, BB) who had a pair of doubles and C Fidel Pena (2-for-5).

Recently acquired in the Aaron Hill trade, 2B Wendell Rijo got an unfriendly 0-for-5 welcome to the Florida State League.

Brevard County Game Log

In his first appearance with the Manatees Marcos Diplan faced six batters and only retired one. Full appearance included in the 7th inning game log.

Manateees' Coulter breaks out with five hits

No. 13 Brewers prospect lofts game-tying homer on career afternoon

By Kelsie Heneghan / MiLB.com

Clint Coulter didn't think he was particularly locked in at the plate Sunday, but one couldn't tell based on the results.

Milwaukee's No. 13 prospect collected a career-high five hits, including a game-tying homer in the ninth inning, before Class A Advanced Brevard County fell to Bradenton, 6-5, in 11 frames at McKechnie Field. He scored three times and plated two runs.

"I had a couple of cheap hits, I got jammed on a couple balls that found holes. I battled late in some counts and found some barrels," Coulter said. "So I mean, it looked pretty on the stats sheet, but if you were at the game, I'm sure some guys were like, 'How many hits did you have?' They didn't even know."

The 22-year-old grounded out in the second to push his slump to 2-for-25. But it marked the final time he returned to the dugout empty-handed.

"I was due," he said with a laugh.

Not overthinking his tough stretch and just trusting that hits would come, Coulter slapped a run-scoring double to left field in the third to snap a three-game stretch without an RBI.

"I don't really go into any at-bat looking to do anything besides get a good pitch to hit, put a good swing on it," he said. "So that's all I was trying to do, not really worried about where the runners are or anything, just trying to get a good pitch to hit and drive it."

With a single to center in the fifth and another knock to left in the seventh, Coulter amassed his first game with at least three hits since talling four on April 17 against St. Lucie.

In the ninth, Coulter came up with his team trailing, 5-4, and down to its final out. The cleanup hitter lofted a fly ball to left off reliever Nick Neumann for his fifth home run of the season.

"[Neumann] threw a fastball outside and a fastball inside and I'm down 0-2, so I was just in protect mode and I got lucky," the right-handed hitter said. "A slider slipped out of his hand and just hung up for me. I put the right part of the bat on it and got lucky. Felt good I gave my team chance to come back and win."

Coulter got another opportunity in the 11th. With Corey Ray on second and Dustin DeMuth on first, the Washington native grounded a single to second baseman Pablo Reyes. The Marauders infielder threw home to get Ray out, but Coulter picked up his fifth hit.

"It was deep in the hole, [Reyes] made like a sliding grab to get it, so I was safe at first. [Ray] was at second base, but he rounded third hard, thinking it might squeak through the infield," Coulter said. "But [Reyes] saved it and then [Ray] just kept going home. The guy made like a spinning throw and a perfect throw [to tag him] at home."

In the 11th, Jerrick Suiter singled and came around to score on a fielding error by shortstop Jose Cuas, making a winner out of Luis Heredia (4-1). The Marauders reliever allowed two hits and a walk over three scoreless frames.

While his average now at .238, Coulter hopes he's gotten back on track. The 2012 first-round pick tallied his first multi-RBI contest since driving in three in on June 4 -- also against St. Lucie.

"Whenever you have success, it's going to help your confidence going into the next day," he said. "I did square one of my singles up and the double was squared up pretty good and the home run obviously, but there were a couple in there that helped out the stat line for sure."

Shuckers rally late, but fall in 4-3 walk-off to Wahoos

Biloxi pitching sets club-record with 18 strikeouts on Sunday

Taylor Jungmann set a club record with 12 strikeouts on Sunday afternoon. (Mark P Driscoll)

Biloxi Boxscore

I'd say good for Taylor Jungmann, but somehow he managed to pitch just 4.2 innings and gave up 3 runs while setting the club strike out record... one of those things isn't like the rest. The reality is that XBHs are killers, no matter how many strike outs you record in a game. He did throw 98 pitches in less than 5 innings, 65 were ultimately strikes. I wonder if his performance will be an MiLB feature because of the strikes outs, I guess we'll find out.

This is losing is getting old, it's been a tough week, even today when the bats come alive a bit Stephen Kohlscheen who's been outstanding gives it up, very little has been going right for this squad.

Rattlers Crack Five Homers to Pound Peoria 16-6

Denson has four hits, including two homers, for Wisconsin

David Denson went 4-for-5 with a double, two homers, and three RBI for the Timber Rattlers on Sunday. (Wisconsin Timber Rattlers/Ann Mollica)

Wisconsin Boxscore

If you like offense this was the game for you today!

The pitching wasn't great, but it was good enough to get the job done this afternoon. The flaky Miguel Diaz showed up today, he'll just lose it for an inning for whatever reason. Sometimes he gets angry and pitches his way out of adversity, sometimes it snow balls on him.

David Denson needed this day in a big way, he's been struggling since teams started playing the exaggerated shift against him, and the opposition won't change until he learns to hit balls where they are pitched. Most teams are pitching him away and he's still roping line drives and ground balls to the pull side for outs. He occasionally will beat the shift with a hard hit ball, but with 3 IFs on that side of the infield it doesn't happen much.

Mitch Ghelfi (4-5,2 2B) continues to rake, I've been updating his last 10 games daily for a while now, it's getting ridiculous. Jake Gatewood (2-5,HR), Luis Aviles (2-4,2B,HR), and Sthervin Matos (2-5,HR) added multi hit games of their own.

Wisconsin Recap

This was fun.

Wisconsin Bottom of the 7th

  • Mitch Ghelfi doubles (10) on a ground ball to right fielder Bladimil Franco.
Isan Diaz grounds out, second baseman Eliezer Alvarez to first baseman R. J. Dennard. Mitch Ghelfi to 3rd.
Jake Gatewood singles on a ground ball to left fielder Carlos Torres. Mitch Ghelfi scores.
David Denson homers (8) on a fly ball to left field. Jake Gatewood scores.
    Luis Aviles walks.
Juan Ortiz pops out to third baseman Dylan Becker in foul territory.
Alan Sharkey hit by pitch. Luis Aviles to 2nd.
Sthervin Matos singles on a line drive to left fielder Carlos Torres. Luis Aviles scores. Alan Sharkey to 2nd.
Troy Stokes Jr. singles on a line drive to right fielder Bladimil Franco. Alan Sharkey scores. Sthervin Matos to 3rd.
Pitching Change: Steven Gallardo replaces Gerwuins Velazco.
Mitch Ghelfi doubles (11) on a line drive to right fielder Bladimil Franco. Sthervin Matos scores. Troy Stokes Jr. to 3rd.
Isan Diaz triples (2) on a line drive to center fielder Magneuris Sierra. Troy Stokes Jr. scores. Mitch Ghelfi scores.
With Jake Gatewood batting, wild pitch by Steven Gallardo, Isan Diaz scores.
    Jake Gatewood strikes out swinging.

I see Hader K'd the 1 batter he faced. Anyone have a pitch by pitch sequence of that AB?

Hader got gypped out of "talk time" by the broadcast crew because they were dugout-interviewing Red Sox uber-stud Yoan Moncada, who just homered off former Brewer farmhand LHP Anthony Banda to give the World team the lead.

94 MPH fastball in the dirt

95 MPH fastball low and away

95 MPH swinging strike low and away

97 MPH foul same spot

97 MPH fastball up and down the middle, swinging strike three.

19-year-old Canadian LH bat Josh Naylor of the Marlins had no chance.
