Wisconsin Beats Burlington 5-2

Yamamoto strikes out eight as Rattlers win third straight

Wisconsin Boxscore

Jordan Yamamoto continues his fine season to date, and continues to flash signs of brilliance on occasion. I don't talk much about the relievers but I am fond of Nate Griep, he's had an excellent season thus far.

The Rattlers were outhit but still plated 5 runs on just 6 hits due to the 4 run 4th inning, Jake Gatewood (2-4) had the only multi hit game and has hits in 8 of his last 10 games.

Biloxi Boxscore

Jorge Ortega had one of his better outings throwing just 93 pitches to get through 7 innings.

Raise your hand if you thought Angel Ortega would be hitting over .280+ this late in the season... that's what I thought. Is this a breakout performance or a one year wonder scenario? Garrett Cooper continues to make contributions, what a wonderful season he's having.

Colorado Springs Box Score

Baby step for Wily Peralta; Damien Magnifico (3 R, 2 ER) touched up a bit for a second consecutive outing, hasn't cost the team wins, however; Josh Hader on the mound Sunday night with postgame fireworks, yeah, that crowd's going to have a good time...

Colorado Springs Game Log

Manny Pina and Josmil Pinto again, go figure; big nights off the bench for Pinto and Eric Young, Jr. -- that's when you know a team is rolling, bobblehead Manager Rick Sweet pushing the right buttons...

Final: Arizona Dodgers 11, Arizona Brewers 1

It was 9-0 after four innings, but nice to see so many returning arms.

Maryvale Box Score

Fifth-year pro, 22-year-old Venezuelan RHP Victor Diaz got the start, first game back coming off Tommy John surgery, regardless of the numbers Saturday, congrats to him on all the hard rehab work; another 5th-year pro, 25-year-old RHP Preston Gainey, who has been out all season with a stress fracture in his back, followed Diaz to the hill. Also, LHP Mitch Lambson (turns 26 later this month), who opened up the season with the Sky Sox after impressing during his big league camp appearances this spring, made his first appearance since April 24th (specific injury hasn't been noted online).

33rd round RHP Emerson Gibbs (Tulane) had the strongest mound outing of the night.

Maryvale Game Log

Three infield errors...

Taking some walks (five here), but this group has been struggling offensively. Review the stats (sort on games played), some of the guys who have seen very limited action played here. Will there be breakout candidates there? It's not obvious.

Catcher Yoel Vasquez hasn't appeared since the 22nd, a game he left in the 5th inning; 17-year-old 8th round SS Francisco Thomas also last played on the 22nd, and another 17-year-old, 37th round Puerto Rico native Jomar Cortes, hasn't played since June 24th, a game he exited after four innings.

Whew, quite a set of updates for an AZL game!

Final: Missoula 3, Helena 2

And suddenly, the H-Crew drops to .500 at 8-8...

Brewers Fall in 9th, Osprey Sweep Series

Helena Heads to Billings as Road Trip Continues

By Craig Durham / Helena Brewers

MISSOULA, MT - With runners on first and third and one out in the 9th, Colton Cross got the ground ball he wanted. Luis Silverio's broken bat roller to short was charged by Gilbert Lara, but skipped under the shortstop's glove, giving the Missoula Osprey (7-9) their first lead of the night and their first walk off win of the season, 3-2 over the Helena Brewers on Saturday night at Ogren Park.

The defeat was the fourth straight for the Brewers (8-8), who fell out of first place for the first time this season.

Helena took an early 2-0 lead on the fourth Yeraldy Martinez home run of the week, a two-run shot in the second, but was unable to add on throughout the rest of the night.

Rodrigo Benoit tossed four effective innings in his second start of the year, limiting the Osprey to one unearned run on five hits in four innings of work. The 22-year-old right-hander struck out three and walked just one.

Gentry Fortuno followed Benoit with four strong innings of his own, allowing a run on seven hits with five strikeouts.

Cross (0-1) was the tough luck loser for the Brewers, allowing the unearned run in the ninth after facing just four batters.

The Brewers head into their first off day of the season just one game behind first place Billings (9-7) and will kick off a three game series with the Mustangs on July 4 at Dehler Park in Billings.

Osprey run win streak to 4 with walkoff over Helena, 3-2

AJ Mazzolini, the Missoulian

Written from the home team perspective, but still worthwhile as Helena's poor defense (and Missoula's clean game) were key.

Helena Box Score

So, this Gilbert Lara growth process is going to take a while, isn't it? Two K's, two errors here, on an 0-for-4 night.

Helena Game Log

20-year-old 4th year pro Dominican native Yerald Martinez had seven career home runs in 175 games before hitting four blasts in his last four games. Baseball, baby...

Final: Clearwater 8, Brevard County 5

Brevard County falls short at Clearwater

By Donald Rieber, Jr., 27 Outs Baseball

***

Brevard County Box Score

Clint Coulter (1-for-2, HR, BB) hit his 4th home run of the season and is batting .367 in his past nine games (11-for-30). Unfortunately Coulter also committed one of the Manatees three errors in this game.

Other multi-hit games included leadoff hitter Omar Garcia (2-for-4, BB) as well as George Iskenderian (2-for-4, HR) who recorded his 3rd home run of the year.

Dustin DeMuth went 0-for-5 at the plate for a second consecutive game. Shortstop Blake Allemand had a double which was his 2nd extra base hit in 14 high-A games this season. On the year he is 8-for-55 in games played with Brevard County. Allemand also committed two errors in the game, one fielding and one on a throw.

For the second straight night the Manatees gave up four runs in the first frame to Clearwater. Also for the second game the Brevard County starter was tagged for two home runs. For starter Eric Hanhold it was his 10th loss of the season. In 79.1 innings Hanhold has a 1.46 WHIP which can be attributed more due to the number of hits allowed (96) than walks (20). Florida State League opponents are hitting .299 against Hanhold including 9 home runs.

Brevard County Game Log

Corey Ray is having some fun with his Sea Cow teammates (TWEET LINK), or maybe some strange mid-season FSL player initiation ritual? Ray will be a welcome addition to the Brevard County lineup, the team is now 1-8 in the second half and 24-53 on the season.

Not just “at Night” anymore.
