Tyrone Taylor slowly and quietly has been heating up, at least showing there's still a little life in his prospect status. Still young for AA, so there's a ray of hope.

Also, predicting Diplan shoots all the way up to top 5 status in our next poll.

Final: Missoula 6, Colorado Springs 3

Osprey Light Up Middle Innings for Victory

Brewers Fall to 8-6

Osprey get to Brewers ace Supak, win it 6-3

Bill Speltz, the Missoulian

MISSOULA -- Faced with the most stingy starter in the Helena Brewers' rotation, the Missoula Osprey showed their newfound pluck at the plate.

Trey Supak not only had his string of eight scoreless innings come to an end Thursday, the Helena ace surrendered a total of three runs in four innings. Missoula took a two-run lead into the sixth and surged to a 6-3 win in front of 1,632 fans at sweltering Ogren-Allegiance Park.

The win boosted the O's to 5-9 and marked another step forward for a offense that pounded five home runs in Wednesday's blowout breakthrough at Helena, which falls to 8-6 with the loss. Thursday was just as impressive considering who the Osprey were up against on the mound for the co-leaders of the Pioneer League North.

"(Supak's) numbers are pretty good and honestly he pitched pretty well against us," Missoula manager Joe Mather said. "He's in the zone with three pitches and he commands his fastball, so a lot of credit goes out to our hitters. They just battled.

"The biggest thing for them right now is confidence. They realize we can play here, we can hit here, we can do everything we used to do."

Just as critical to Missoula's second straight win were the performances of starting pitcher Connor Grey and reliever Rafael Pujols. Grey (1-0) earned his first win in allowing three runs on six hits in six innings, then Pujols slammed the door shut with three scoreless frames.

For the fourth time in as many nights Missoula spotted Helena an early lead. Grey struggled with his control in the first inning, issuing a leadoff walk and hitting Wes Wilson in the head before Ronnie Gideon delivered an RBI single to center field.

Helena had a runner on second with no outs in the second but Grey buckled down with a big hand from his catcher, B.J. Lopez. Sandwiched in between two strikeouts was a Lopez laser throw to third to gun down Demi Orimoloye as he tried to steal.

Missoula broke through against Supak in the third. Logan Soole drew a leadoff walk, stole second, moved up on a Lopez ground-out and scored on a Max Brown ground-out.

The Osprey added two runs in the fourth. Designated hitter Ryan January reached on a broken-bat infield single and Missoula's hottest hitter, Luis Silverio, followed with a double to left center that scored January from first. Silverio later scored on a nice piece of hitting by Didimo Bracho, who was fooled by a breaking ball but punched it into left for an RBI single.

Grey pitched past the fourth for the first time in his pro career and ran into a little bit of trouble.

He gave up a home run ball to Yeraldy Martinez in the fifth and Gideon in the sixth. Fortunately for the O's, they stayed out in front thanks to a Hernandez RBI single off reliever Wuilder Rodriguez in the fifth.

Pujols inherited a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh. The O's added a run in the bottom half on a Jasrado Chisholm solo round-tripper to left center field and added another run in the eighth when Silverio singled and scored on a Tanner Hill base hit.

Silverio and Hill each collected two hits and an RBI to lead the Osprey attack. Gideon had two hits and RBIs for the Brewers.

Thursday marked the first time this season the Osprey have strung together back-to-back wins. They'll try to make it three in a row against the Brewers in front of what is expected to be a near-capacity home crowd on Friday night. Fireworks will follow the game.

Final: Arizona Athletics 5, Arizona Brewers 2

Three-run 7th made it 5-0 A's, Brewers scored single runs in the 8th and 9th...

Maryvale Box Score

19-year-old 2015 3rd round RHP Nash Walters has walked seven over 6.2 innings in his last two outings after an encouraging first appearance; similarly, 18-year-old RHP Carlos Herrera (Adam Lind trade) has struggled in two appearances after his fine Milwaukee organization debut.

Maryvale Game Log

RF Nick Cain tripled and singled.

Despite the gaudy 15-run inning (that was pretty much handed to them) on Wednesday, overall, it's been an anemic offensive showing over the first nine games -- .193/.303/.289 (.592 OPS).
