That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Gennett's first inning homer was the first one hit off of Maeda since May 11. On that day, Kenta gave up two homers to Noah Syndergaard.

Dude can't throw to first.

We got the out back on a great throw by Flores, getting Maeda trying to go from first to third on a single.

Maldonado's powder blue catching gear deserves note. Sorry about the small blurry picture, but it's the best I can get right now.

More like turquoise. I'm not a fan. At all.

But the shiny blue with charcoal gray on the hats and uniforms is really sharp.

Happy Father's Day!

I was expecting to see Garza get shelled. Maybe he will prove me wrong. That would be cool as the Brewers rotation could use something positive.

I think it would be even more positive if he lights it up enough before the deadline for us to dump him to someone else.

I think everyone has blue in their unis. For Father's Day.

Yeah, Maldonado's gear the same shade as the socks worn by the Dodger's hitter in the photo in [a=p989545]post 7[/a]. Maybe we should call the color Father's Day blue.

It seems as if it will be difficult to cleanly dump Garza with such a costly 2017 salary attached to him as well as a checkered injury history.

Take a look at what other free agent starting pitchers have signed for the last two offseasons. For someone with his track record (8 good seasons, one bad season), $12.5M/year for 1.5 seasons is cheap and low risk. If he can show over the next month that he is healthy (no recurring injury issues, no issues going 6-7 innings, ERA under 4.00) there will be no shortage of teams asking about him.

As for his "checkered injury history", he's only had one full season in the majors with less than 24 starts and only two seasons with less than 150 IP (and one of those was 148.2 IP).

Its actually better than that. The contract is a bonus. Since there is no way Garza's contract for 2018 vests at $13 million (assuming he gets another 16 starts this year he would need 40 starts in 2017 for it to vest) this now really becomes a 2 year contract for $17.5 million with $2 million deferred (with even some more injury insurance on top of that). That's #4 starter money for a guy with high level stuff. If he can show last year was mostly due to dealing with an injury he could be heavily in demand. Is there enough time for that to happen before the end of July is an open question.

Obviously this team wasn't built to contend this year and quite honestly the shellacking of the first month were what most were expecting the whole year. However, they've played very well since and even though they are losing rarely do they get blown out and look totally overmatched. Having said that it's really frustrating to watch them piss away games like they did in this series. Easily could have taken 3 of 4 instead of losing 3 of 4.
