Also selected to the Florida State League All-Star Game were CF Johnny Davis and RHP Brandon Woodruff, each since promoted to Biloxi.

Tonight's Helena starting pitcher, Jordan Desguin (36th round, 2015), is from Florida Gulf Coast University, and is certainly hoping for a similar career path to Jacob Barnes, the current big-league Brewer.

Biloxi with two games remaining, don't control their own first-half destiny, but it's oh-so-close.

Pensacola first finishes a 2-2 suspended game on Saturday, then play two more of their own.

Yes, weather forced a cancellation earlier, so there won't be a division tie. The Blue Wahoos play one more game.

Go Shuckers!

Rain postpones Shuckers and Suns on Saturday night

Game to be made up as part of a Sunday doubleheader starting at 12:05 pm CT

ACKSONVILLE, FL. - Saturday night's scheduled game between the Biloxi Shuckers and Jacksonville Suns at Bragan Field has been postponed by rain and will be made up as part of a Sunday doubleheader. The doubleheader will feature two seven inning contests with first pitch of game one set for 12:05 pm. The second game will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

The Shuckers are currently in a first place tie atop the Southern League South Division standings with Pensacola. The Blue Wahoos are completing Friday night's suspended game and playing a seven inning contest to follow. No matter what happens in those games, the South Division title is going down to the final day. The Shuckers won the South Division First Half title in 2015.

The Shuckers are 6-2 in seven inning contests this season.

The Shuckers are scheduled to start RHP Jorge Ortega (0-6, 4.52) in Game 1 and LHP Wei-Chung Wang (2-3, 4.53) in Game 2.The Suns are scheduled to start RHP Asher Wojciechowski (0-0, --) in Game 1 and RHP Patrick Johnson (3-2, 4.53) in Game 2.

Coverage on Sunday afternoon will begin at 11:45 am. on the Biloxi Shuckers' Radio Network's flagship station WGCM 1240 AM, 100.9 FM, Pascagoula's WPMO 1580 AM and the TuneIn Radio app. The contest can also be seen on milb.tv.

Wisconsin wins in extra innings at Beloit

Rattlers take Snappers 4-3 in ten innings

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Wisconsin Boxscore

Jordan Yamamoto struggled some out of the gate but righted the ship and made it 6+, though he did push the 100 pitch threshold with 96. I don't recall another T-Rat pitcher being allowed jump over the 85 pitch mark this season, which speaks volumes to how consistent Jordan has been. Nate Griep has been awesome all year and Devin Williams had his best outing this season to lock down the victory in extras.

This a very enjoyable offensive boxscore with Isan Diaz (2-5,2 2B), David Denson (2-5,2B), Jake Gatewood (3-5). Mitch Ghelfi (2-5.2B). Max McDowell (2-5), and Troy Stokes (2-3,2B,BB) all posting multi hit efforts. Nothing gets past MH, Monte Harrison did leave the game yesterday but Chris had no idea why during the broadcast and of course I was busy tonight so I missed a possible update on his status.

Colorado Springs Box Score

What the linked game summary doesn't say is that there were two outs in the 9th --

Col. Springs Bottom of the 9th

Eric Young Jr. grounds out, shortstop Ramon Torres to first baseman Balbino Fuenmayor.

Kyle Wren singles on a ground ball to shortstop Ramon Torres. Kyle Wren advances to 2nd, on a fielding error by shortstop Ramon Torres.

Pitching Change: Kevin McCarthy replaces Scott Alexander.

Michael Reed strikes out swinging.

Orlando Arcia singles on a ground ball to third baseman Hunter Dozier. Kyle Wren to 3rd.

With Andy Wilkins batting, Orlando Arcia steals (10) 2nd base.

Kevin McCarthy intentionally walks Andy Wilkins.

Will Middlebrooks hits a grand slam (8) to left field. Kyle Wren scores. Orlando Arcia scores. Andy Wilkins scores.

Did you read the summary? Because raw footage from the dugout view of the game-winner is there...

Colorado Springs Game Log

Three hits apiece for CF Kyle Wren and RF Michael Reed; LF Eric Young, Jr. on base thrice with two singles and a walk; DH Andy Wilkins also reached three times, walking twice; nice nights for 1B Garin Cecchini and C Josmil Pinto also as the Sky Sox put on 18 baserunners.

First inning pitching woes continue, but stellar work by LHP Sam Freeman and RHP Damien Magnifico, who, if nothing else, inches towards a September big league debut impressively...

Pensacola won their suspended game, 3-2.

We'll post the status of this chase after the regularly completed game tonight.

Pensacola swept, so Biloxi does not control its own destiny Sunday.

The Shuckers must sweep their own doubleheader, then hope that Pensacola loses at home to a 32-37 Mobile team, in order to win the first-half.

Going to be tough...

Final: DSL Brewers 8, DSL Tigers 3

Cerveceritos move to 5-7 with the win.

Game was tied 1-1 after six before the Brewers broke out...

DSL Brewers Box Score

Four errors by the Tigers, none by the Crew; 17-year-old rookie third baseman Aaron Familia, batting cleanup, was on base all four times up (single, two walks, HBP) yet was pinch-hit for in the 8th with another RH bat - the HBP was way back in the 3rd, so Familia is likely fine.

The Brewers had an amazing 22 AB's with RISP, six hits. 17-year-old rookie LF Jose Pena now 0-for-9, but has walked twice, including once here.

Check out the log below for the two late rallies.

DSL Brewers Game Log

Nice six-inning start for 20-year-old 2nd year RHP Joaquin De La Cruz; this was the Brewer debut for former Tampa DSL'er RHP Francisco Pena.

Final: Helena 6, Great Falls 3

6-3 Win Leads to 2-0 Start

Steady, Strategic Brewers Outlast Voyagers

By Craig Durham / Helena Brewers

HELENA, MT - The Helena Brewers are off to a 2-0 start following a come-from-behind 6-3 victory over the Great Falls Voyagers on Saturday night in Helena.

In a reversal of Opening Night, the Brewers were the team to build a 2-0 lead only to see the Voyagers come back in the middle innings. Saturday's twist, however, had the Brewers getting the last laugh.

The scoring began in the first when Joantgel Segovia singled and proceeded to make it the rest of the way around the basepaths on three wild pitches thrown by Voyagers starter Yosmer Solarzano. The Brewers would double their lead in the 5th when a Wes Wilson leadoff double was followed by an RBI single from Nathan Rodriguez.

Helena starter Jordan Desguin departed following five shutout innings, and Great Falls got to work on Jack Finnegan (1-0). They tied the game with a Corey Zangari two run blast in the top of the 6th, and took a 3-2 lead when Jake Jarvis deposited the first pitch of the 7th inning over the wall in left.

That's when the fundamentals kicked in. A Charles Galiano sacrifice bunt moved two men into scoring position in the bottom of the 7th, and a groundout and wild pitch later the Brewers were back in front for good.

Helena scored a pair of insurance runs in the 8th and Wuilder Rodriguez finished the night by retiring Jameson Fisher and Zangari on back-to-back strikeouts to earn his first save of the season.

Helena will look to make it a 3-0 start to the year when the two teams meet on Sunday at 1:05 (2:05 Central) in a Father's Day matinee. Trey Supak will be on the mound for the Brewers with Adam Panayotovich getting the nod for Great Falls.

Four nice photos at the link below --

Brewers do it all in win over Voyagers

Ryan Collingwood, Helena Independent Record

A pair of wild pitches and a fielding error equated to three Helena Brewers runs Saturday night.

Sure, the Brewers were opportunistic in a 6-3 win over the visiting Great Falls Voyagers in a Pioneer League tilt at Kindrick Legion Field, but the right arm of starter Jordan Desguin and ample hitting didn't hurt, either.

Desguin didn't give up a run in five innings of work, allowing just three hits and two walks to go along with five strikeouts.

And when the Voyagers (0-2) rallied to take a brief, 3-2 lead in the seventh, the Brewers' potent lineup -- one that's combined for 20 hits in their first two games -- came through in timely fashion.

The Brewers (2-0) strung together four runs in the seventh and eighth frames, tallying three hits in the eighth when Demi Orimoyole, Gilbert Lara and Juan Ortiz all had singles in succession, Ortiz's an RBI.

"Great game, pitching-wise," Brewers manager Nestor Corredor said. "(Desguin) did a really good job, and their starting pitcher (Yosmer Solorzano) did really good, too. It was a pitching matchup for six innings, then we put the bats together and scored a couple late rallies."

Solorzano gave up two runs in five innings, striking out five and walking two. He fanned three batters in the first, but oddly tallied three wild pitches in the same frame, one of which brought in Joantgel Segovia from third for the Brewers' initial run.

Second baseman Wes Wilson, a 17th-round draft pick out of Clemson, made the most of his professional debut, going 2 for 3 with a double, two runs and a stolen base.

The first pitch he saw in his career went straight to his shoulder. He trotted to first and proceeded to steal second on the Brewers' next at-bat.

"I felt good. It was good to put the bat on the ball," Wilson said. "I was just looking to hit balls hard and put balls in play and see what happens."

A Nathan Rodriguez RBI single in the fifth knocked in Wilson, giving the Brewers an early 2-0 cushion.

When the Brewers shelved Desguin after the fifth, the Voyagers made quick work of reliever Jake Finnegan.

Finnegan gave up three runs -- on a two-run homer by Corey Zangari in the fifth and a solo by Jake Jarvis in the sixth -- and five hits over the next two innings, but earned the win. Wuilder Rodriguez didn't give up a hit in 1 1/3 innings, securing the save.

Desguin, the former Florida Gulf Coast University standout, was happy to be in command of his change-up.

"I had some pitches I don't normally have and just worked with what I had and it ended up working pretty well," Desquin said. "The change-up, normally I don't have it. It's my fourth-best pitch, but I just felt it tonight. It was working and I just stuck with it."

Jonathan Oquendo went 2 for 3 with an RBI for Helena and Ortiz finished the night 2 for 4. Ortiz is now 5 for 8 with 3 RBIs in two games.
