Via the Brewers:

RHP David Burkhalter has been placed on the DL with Wisconsin. LHP Quintin Torres-Costa added to the roster in his place.

If you listened to Kyle Lobner's interview with Manager Matt Erickson via the Rattler Radio Blog, then you know Burkhalter is getting his elbow checked out but "it does not look good".

Just awful (potential) news for the 2014 6th round high school pick out of Louisiana.

AUDIO via Thursday's Sky Sox pre-game show: Manager Rick Sweet

On his ejection earlier this week:

"The umpires (in New Orleans) stunk, and we're going to see them here (in Memphis), too."

Sweet is the best interview, just the best...he also discusses Josh Hader's arrival and what's in store for Josh (Hader debuts on Sunday), also talks about 22 of the next 29 being at home.

Wisconsin powers past Kane County 18-9

Rattlers hit five homers: Harrison (Twice), Diaz, Ghelfi, and Aviles

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Wisconsin Boxscore

Hooray for extremely entertaining games on a Friday, what a nice way to go into the weekend. The pitching was spotty early but Drake Owenby was fantastic to close out the game, pitching 5 innings while allowing just 3 hits, 3 walks (too many), and 0 earned runs while striking out 11!

The offensive boxscore is as full as it's been all season with Trent Clark (2-5,BB), Blake Allemand (2-6,2B), Jake Gatewood (2-5,2B), Monte Harrison (3-5,2 HR), Max McDowell (2-4,2B), and Luis Aviles (3-5,2B) all posting multi hit games.

Shuckers rally late to beat Barons 2-1

Brandon Woodruff tossed 6.2 innings of one-run ball Friday

Johnny Davis went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in his Double-A debut on Friday night (Michael Krebs)

Biloxi Boxscore

Brandon Woodruff was fantastic, he's been on the uphill swing since his initial AA struggles. In the fact the pitching as a whole was spectacular in a nice bounce back effort for this team.

Johnny Davis notched a hit in his first AA game, though it was of the infield variety, what a weapon he could be with a line drive swing.

On the highlight of his second HR, it looks like Monte Harrison watched it at the plate and then got into it with the Kane County bench when he crossed the plate. Not taking sides but he might want to tone that down a bit.

No Monte, you're hitting .203! And not sure if Matt Erickson will look forward to possible retribution tonight...

Final: DSL Brewers 13, DSL Yankees #2 squad 8

A much-needed offensive breakout...

DSL Brewers Box Score

Rookie RHP's Henry Medina and Freisis Adames really stabilized things over the final 6.1 innings, great work; two other RHP rookies struggled early, each making their professional debuts -- 22-year-old Miguel Sanchez walked five in 2.2 innings, and 19-year-old Jenri Montas did not retire any of the four men he faced (walk, walk, HBP, line drive single).

DSL Brewers Game Log

Brewers trailed 8-5 after six, but put up four-spots in both the 7th and 8th innings for your log-viewing pleasure.

First baseman Josue Herrera had the lone extra-base hit of the 13 knocks the Brewers had in the game, a double as he drove in four. Herrera is a third-year pro and former Diamondbacks farmhand who saw the majority of his time at third base last season, his first with the Crew.

Leadoff SS Luis Avila was on base four times (three singles and a walk) and is now 10-for-21, all singles, but hey, he's 17 years old.

Catcher Jose Sibrian was 3-for-5, and catcher Luis Avalo, the DH here, had the other multi-hit game, including his first professional base hit.

***

Serious question -- in the DSL, Maryvale, and Helena, do they take the balls out of play for all the "first professional base hits"?

Take that, Redbirds!

Final: Colorado Springs 7, Memphis 6, ten innings

Will Leads Way To 7-6 Sky Sox Win

Middlebrooks blasts two homers to even Sky Sox series in Memphis

By Aaron Cheris / Colorado Springs Sky Sox

That game summary is really well put-together, gives you a real sense of the many contributions, strongly suggest your clickage, please...

Colorado Springs Box Score

Check out Will Middlebrooks' splits. The dude has a 1.366 OPS in nine games in June. Still just three walks on the entire season, but man, he's raking as of late...

Awesome when the opposing announcer goes "Uh-oh" to lead his call --

SS Orlando Arcia 4-for-his-last-26, and 0-for-5 here...

Colorado Springs Game Log

"Sky Sox starter Taylor Jungmann (1-3, 9.87) was strong for the first three innings, but couldn't hold the lead in the fourth. The Redbirds rallied for five runs on a few hits, a couple walks, and a hit batter off Jungmann to take a 5-4 lead. That proved to be the end of the night for Jungmann. In four innings pitched, he allowed five runs on six hits while striking out two."

You know what?

Really tired of the "tough pitching for the Sky Sox" talk.

Check out the city locations in the standings link here, focus on the first two divisions where Colorado Springs plays the vast majority of its competition. Those are pitching-neutral ballparks for the most part, even pitcher-friendly in some cases. (The Sky Sox only play one series a year against the teams in the western divisions.)

Now peek at Taylor Jungmann's game logs -- five of his last six games have been on the road (yes, one in Fresno, one of the more fair western locales).

And yes, Colorado Springs' home park is offense-heavy, but it's not HR heavy. Yes, affects breaking pitches, which is huge. Do pitchers over-adjust and then take their troubles on the road with them as well? Perhaps.

Regardless, Jungmann needs to make three or four starts for Brevard County just to re-capture, well, something...
