Cody Ponce went 2 innings. 4 K's and one bloop hit. He was sitting around 91-92 on his fastball. Zach Jones now in.

Yikes, hopefully he just doesn't want to let it rip yet. All news from fall was he was sitting mid 90s topping 98. 1st game back so I can understand that but hopefully he regains that velocity soon

I kind of assumed he was going easy. Zach Jones was 95-97 so it wasn't the gun. The Twins' announcer (or Miracle as they are called) says the book on Cody is that he has a relatively straight fastball but locates it well to both sides. Sometimes good to get the perspective of the other side. Zach Jones, of course, played for the Twins and they know he throws nothing straight.

Brevard County Box Score

As we have come to expect and appreciate, another quality game story provided including manager quotes. Also some excellent photos including an impressive catch by Malik Collymore.

There isn't much to add that isn't covered in the game story, but to reiterate the story of the night, Cody Ponce went 2.0 IP allowing just one hit, no walks, and striking out four. He was reportedly working in the 90-93 mph range. Overall just 30 pitches thrown for Ponce, 21 of which found the strike zone.

The Manatees bats combined for 10 hits including three doubles. Seven of the Brevard County hits game against last year's Twins first round draft pick, LHP Tyler Jay.

Brevard County Game Log

Here are Cody Ponce's two innings pitched...

Fort Myers Top of the 1st

Tanner Witt lines out to left fielder Malik Collymore.

Nick Gordon strikes out swinging.

T. J. White singles on a line drive to center fielder Johnny Davis.

Joe Maloney strikes out swinging.

Fort Myers Top of the 2nd

Edgar Corcino called out on strikes.

Chris Paul lines out to right fielder Clint Coulter.

Alex Real called out on strikes.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Rattlers return the favor and shuts out Clinton

One night after losing 6-0, Wisconsin beats LumberKings 7-0

Jordan Yamamoto pitched six scoreless innings, allowed two hits, struck out four, and picked up the win in the Rattlers 7-0 victory over Clinton on Wednesday night. (Wisconsin Timber Rattlers/Ann Mollica)

Wisconsin Boxscore

I doubt anyone loves great pitching more than I do so Jordan Yamamoto and Devin Williams didn't disappoint, and it was another televised game to boot. I'll take 5 hits, 2 walks, and 9 strike outs over 9 innings every single time out.

Since returning from injury Trent Clark is looking much more aggressive at the plate, the HR will be in the highlights and there was no doubt. 5 T-Rats pounded out multiple hits including Blake Allemand (2-5), Isan Diaz (2-3,2 2B,BB), Monte Harrison (2-4,2B), Alan Sharkey (2-4,2B), and Carlos Belonis (3-4). Diaz has also been hot of late now hitting .303 over his last ten.

Shuckers back in first after 3-2 win over Biscuits in 14

Victor Roache singled in the tying run and scored winning run on Wednesday

Biloxi Shuckers

Victor Roache scored the game winning run in the 14th inning after a his first triple of 2016 (Jason Clark)

Biloxi Boxscore

I fell asleep following this one so I missed the late game heroics. Jorge Ortega settled into his predictable line... about a hit per inning, low walks, low strike outs, and a couple of runs. The bullpen was simply amazing with 8.1 scoreless innings.

This wasn't a stellar offensive effort as only Victor Roache (2-5,3B,2B,BB) managed a multi hit game in 14 innings.

He seems to have recovered from his early-season struggles. Same goes for Suter. Looks like they could be 1-2 on my next top 25 ballot, with Perrin at 3.

Its been an impressive improvement for Yamamoto over his performance at Arizona and Helena rookie leagues. He had a 7.84 ERA and 1.95 WHIP in 62 IP last year. He is at 2.25 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 1.7 BB/9IP, and 9.2K/9IP over 52 innings this year.

Any scouting reports on him this year? TheCrew07, did you write anything up on him this year?

Brent Suter's K/BB ratio is 6.0/1. The only starting pitchers who have a better one are Jon Perrin (11.0/1) and Corey Knebel (9.0/1), and Knebel's only a starter because of the rehab assignments (one-inning starts). Ortega's is 7th best (3.84/1).

Since May 1, Suter and Ortega are pitching about on par with their 2015 seasons. Hader could skyrocket up, depending on how he handles Colorado Springs.
