Will I ever see a Brewers no hitter in my lifetime? A question I've asked myself a few times.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I've seen two.

Nieves and CC.

I have always said CC was a no hitter but I would like to see one actually count. Otherwise I was three for Nieves.

Can't all be pretty I guess.

Manaea is a rarity in that he throws left-handed but bats right-handed.

That is so not a rarity though. It happens way more than would make sense.

I think the rarity would be coming from a Pitcher doing it. Since getting beaned would most likely happen to the Pitcher Batting's throwing arm.

Bumgarner does it. A lot of right handed pitchers bat left handed as well.

Craig said that Davies would have gone out for the eighth had the no-hitter still been intact. He wouldn't comment on what might have happened after that.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

The only lefty throwing/righty hitting hitters I can think of are Ryan Ludwig and Rickey Henderson. I'm sure there are more but a quick search for pitchers brings Will Smith, Madison Bumgarner (the Giants have two other ones on their roster), Randy Johnson, the Braves have two, the Nats have two including Gio Gonzalez, Cory Luebky. It's not common but it's certainly not rare. It's even more less rare when you look at the right handed pitchers that bat lefty.

I personally don't understand how any left handed thrower bats left hand and how any right handed thrower bats right handed. I always wanted my dominant hand on the bottom of the bat for better control. I tried switch hitting for a couple of years but never felt comfortable doing it despite decent results.

Just depends on how your were taught I think. I have a friend who writes and throws right handed but bats, hits golf balls etc all left handed. He's done it since he was like 3 years old so now doing it the other way just feels weird.

A new one tonight - had to make an entry in my scorebook for "Hit By Own Batted Ball" (HBOBB).

Same here! HBOBB is what appeared in the "scoring" section of the ribbon board. I added 2U to my scorebook as well as "HBOBB" (in quotes).

If the Brewers ever bring back Baseball Bingo, I hope they use HBOBB for a square. ;)

Zach wasn't so much "pitching really well" as "pitching well enough." Even before Billy Butler got himself on my baseball enemies list, I realized that the pace of Zach's pitch count wasn't consistent with lasting nine innings. Still, a nice effort, and if he's the odd man out when Garza comes back, I will be unhappy.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I was counting pitches at that point also. He probably could have made it in 120 pitches. Especially if he had gotten that ground ball for a DP right before Butler hit the homer. Then he would've had 25 pitches for the 8th and 9th innings.

I'll also vent a little that the ump was squeezing Davies in the 7th inning. I tuned in late and only saw Davies pitch the 6th and 7th, but I couldn't believe a couple pitches where he painted the black and the ump called balls. One had so much movement (coming back over the plate), I'm sure the ump was fooled. But another was a terrible non-call.

Alas it wasn't to be. Nice to see him pitching well the last couple outings, however. Almost like we still have Fiers around. :)

I saw the pic of your scorebook on Facebook and it was the first thing I searched for.

The view from my seat had the perfect vantage, but alas I was at the concession stand. I didn't clearly see the play but did see the ump's non-verbal communication and understood the call. My first thought was to look at the auxiliary board and sure enough they were on top of it!
