Maybe he's got promise but Broxton is by far the worst hitting position player I've ever seen.

Enrique Cruz for me. He was worse than a pitcher. He was overmatched in every AB.

Cruz was awful.

I don't remember much about Cruz but I can't believe there has been anyone worse than Broxton.

Cruz was, I believe a 21 year old Rule 5 pickup. An infielder. We kept him all year, and he hit .085. .243 OPS. He barely played. Totally over matched. He 30 strikeouts on 71 ABs.

He had only one other AB in his career.

I remember his tenure I just don't remember anything about his play other than it was bad.

Enrique Cruz I remember, and concur he was far worse than Broxton. If there were a stat for how shallow the outfield played a hitter, he'd have to be our all time leader. He was wayyy out of his league when he jumped from A+ to MLB with us as a rule 5 in 03.

So what exactly is the logic behind bringing in a lefty who doesn't do great against righties to face the best RHB on the other team with the tying run on base? Sure, it worked but it makes no sense.

Here's the answer.

Franco, a right-handed batter, has better success against righties, so Counsell went to his lone left-handed pitcher.

Going all in: Smith debuts with clutch relief

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.
