The Villar situation reminds me a little bit of the Segura situation a couple years ago. Segura looked like a total stud, then fell off a cliff never to return. (as a Brewer anyway) I'm not saying that Villar is Segura, but the situation could have the same results.

 

I hope this is the real Villar, and that he is a big part of this team's success for years to come, but it is just too darn early to make that call...

 

I also hope that if this is the real Villar, he bones up on situational base running... I have to think he has coaches in his ears telling him what to do and what not to do from this point on.

 

The difference to me is that villar has plate awareness and takes his fair share of walks, and carries a very good obp. Yes, he has his mental lapses, but hopefully those can be reduced over time.
