Sling TV & Cord Cutting

Trying to catch the preseason game but youtubetv is telling me its not available for streaming. Please tell me this is just a preseason thing. I'm hoping it is because I was able to watch parts of the hall of fame game last week.

Yea, this scares me. Youtube TV was the one I was about to try. I will have anarchy if I go to turn the Packers on in week one and it's not available. So for the pre-season game, did you go to the local channel in Milwaukee (NBC, CBS.....whatever station it was on) and it wasn't available?

I was looking ahead and the Steelers game had a not available sign by it, but now it's gone. So fingers crossed that something's been worked out. Plus I did find the Tennessee game in the dvr which was weird, not sure if the replay played and got taped or what.

I don't get MLB network so I'll be looking for a way to stream the playoff game tomorrow. I saw that MLB.TV has some promotion where you can use your cable provider's authentication code to get access for select playoff games: https://www.mlb.com/live-stream-games/subscribe/postseasonus

Does anyone know if this would work in the Milwaukee area, or would we have blackout concerns? Otherwise it looks like youtube tv, directv now, and playstation vue all have mlb network.

Unless I'm reading that incorrectly, you have to be an MLB.TV subscriber.

Fallout from the Brewers/Rockies game on MLB Network:

My Charter Spectrum subscription at $186.00/mo did not include MLB Network, so I signed up for YOUTUBE TV 7 day trial. Watched the game. Enjoyed it. Now I am canceling my Charter Cable and phone portion, sticking with broadband only and adding Youtube TV for a total of about $100/mo Will save me at least $86.00 monthly

I went with Sling back in July and dealt with a lot of stupidity in the canceling from Direct TV. Given the price difference at nearly $100/ month I can't see going back, but I have encountered some annoying issues. Like despite never having any issues streaming Netflix, Sling will have issues at high traffic times of day. Theoretically my broadband provider has said I can upgrade my modem to get some more bandwidth. Part of the appeal of Sling was streaming from an account but he cell signal at my cabin is pretty awful and means at a minimum I need a booster to use it there.

I've been watching the playoff games online at MLB tv for free. I don't have a subscription, don't have cable, dish, directtv, sling or anything. All I did was google how can I get the Brewers game for free and it came up as one of the choices. Weird thing is I miss the commercials. They just have a message saying commercial break with no background noise at all. I've started to hum theme songs from old sitcoms just to have some background noise. Other than that it comes in well with no issues.

It was also available on Amazon Prime Video. I believe all Thursday night games on the Fox schedule are also streamed on Amazon Prime.

I get all the Packers games through the antenna. Anyone know why tonight it says no signal on the FOX station?

Blackout thing? I live in Chicago and watched it via antenna.

Speaking of Hulu TV....I found out they have FS1, ESPN, AND BTN. BEtter than Sling for sports for the same price.

Hulu is running a Black Friday deal. It’s $0.99 per month for 12 months before going to their regular price of $7.99.

Thanks for the tip! I’ve never regularly subscribed to a streaming service. I’ve just occasionally subscribed to Netflix for a month here and there. Anyways, I’ll be tying Hulu now for 12 months.

Made the jump from Uverse to Hulu Live (with Charter internet) last month, and haven't looked back. Half the price of Uverse all-in, and virtually no problems so far. The HL interface is a bit clunky, but that will develop to a better product with time, I'd think.

I tried Vue and it's not bad but less than stellar to navigate. I only used it for the free week because I can't get Sunday night games at home so I didn't really set it up with a lot of personal settings but it wasn't as easy as regular cable guides to find what I want. My guess is it will eventually get better. The original Amazon prime interface was pretty brutal too but got better.

Have direct tv now. When I record shows on Fox the mouth doesn’t match the voice when I play it on my amazon fire stick in one room but works just fine on my roku in the other room.

Anyone know what gives?

IIRC, it's related to your sound settings on the fire stick. Go to settings>Display & Sound> Audio

If the Dolby Digital Output is set to "Auto" change it to "off". If it's set to "off" change to "Auto". Play the show and check the audio to see if it's in sync now.
