That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

The good news is that Will Smith threw live batting practice for the first time.

¡Flores!

The bench gives him the appropriate silent treatment for his first career homer.

I really gained a strong distaste for the Mets organization after the Carlos Gomez non trade last year, I thought that was very unprofessional of them. Would be nice to take it to them a game or two.

Why does Terry Collins have a love affair with Eric Campbell?

I don't know, but Duda was the starter when I first posted the lineup before noon. I've made the corrections.

Why? The trade leaked before it was finalized and then the Mets found something that they weren't comfortable with and backed out. You don't blame the Mets for that and it looks like it was a pretty good decision by the Mets to back out considering what Gomez has done since being traded.

It's not like the trade was agreed to, finalized and then they backed out because Flores was crying on the field and they felt bad or something.

It used to be cool to follow along on MLB Gameday even when I had the game on TV but they turned that into hot garbage.

They have that new gameday which is worse than the classic but if you go to classic there's no video highlights and where the layout of Citi Field is supposed to be there's just a blank white background with the names of the defenders.

Yeah, the trade was leaked early. But Alderson and Collins were both sort of goofy in front of the press. Melvin handled it better.

It's not about them backing out to me, it's about the manufacturing of a non-existent hip issue in order to do so, which could have been potentially damaging to both Gomez' career and the league's perception of his trade value to us. Yeah, it turned out looking like a wise move for the Mets, but that doesn't make it any less unprofessional the way they went about it.

I don't believe for a second that the hip was ever a deal breaker for them.

Unless you saw his medicals, I'm not sure how you can say there was a non-existent hip issue. And before you say the Brewers and Boras said there wasn't one, of course they're going to say that. The Brewers were still trying to trade him and Boras' job is to get him a huge contract.

I hate that the average age of our starting lineup today is 29 years old. I know we're not going to rush our prospects but we're playing a bunch of guys that have no future on this team at the expense of guys that might. I have no desire to see a 31 year old Alex Presley, a 29 year old Kirk Nieuwenhuis and 34 year old Aaron Hill playing every day.

I can see the point about Hill, but who would you play instead of Presley and Nieuwenhuis?

I get that we can't right now because Santana and Braun are hurt but I'd definitely play Broxton. Might as well see if he can develop into a piece for the future. Same with Flores who was getting sporadic playing time before injuries at the expense of both Nieuwenhuis and Presley.

Broxton is back on the team, Reed is struggling but needs to get a chance at some point, Roache given his age needs to be promoted quickly. Heck, with Phillips, Liriano and Broxton might as well see if Wren can be a 5th ofer before he becomes blocked forever.

You could make the case the Brewers might get a PTBNL/26 year old AAA relief arm for Nieuwenhuis if a team has to cover a CF injury or needs a solid 5th OFer. But what team is going to even consider Presley?

Broxton slipped my mind, but I'm willing to let a few days go by before I complain.

I see the point about Flores. But with the struggles he's had, I see a double-edged sword. It might not be the best thing for him to play poorly on an everyday basis. I'm sure he's working in the cage and all that.

That play is probably the best example of why I despise Brian Anderson. An easy grounder to 1st where Carter steps on the base and then throws to 2nd gets a "Wow, what a play!" Really? That's an incredibly easy play for a major league player. That's an easy play for a high school player.

Not everything has to be the best play ever.
