MoreTrife, Wood isn't your normal reliever. He's like Capuano--a former starter that is good with the bat

Hence why they pitched around him with the bases loaded.

They didn't pitch around him. Torres just isn't very good. Not sure which is more remarkable, that his ERA is under 4, or Boyer's is under 2. Heck, in the first weeks of the season Boyer wasn't giving up runs yet had a WHIP over 2.

I'm not sure why you keep touting Capuano's bat. He is a career. 124 hitter with a .307 career OPS. He is pretty much the definition of a pitcher at the plate.

I don't understand bunting and playing for a tie in the 13th inning. Try to put a 2-run inning together to win this thing. Wasted most of Gennett's AB there with bunt attempts.

Exactly. I don't understand anything Counsell has done in extra innings.

All a set up for soul crushing disappointment.

that line is a bit of an overstatement, don't you think?

I live in Chicago and have numerous smug cubs fans friends so there may be an added element for me. But that loss hurt a lot.

Yeah, it probably was, but something about hearing Miller Park roaring with Cub fans made this choke sting a little bit more.

Those down on the farm reports and minor league scores scrolling across the bottom line during the game are so annoying and unnecessary. I don't give a single crap whether the team wins or loses, just how our prospects are developing, since they never show that, it's pointless.

I remember distinctly listening to Jim Powell's reports circa 2005 and loving every one of them for just that reason

I dislike the stuff scrolling across the bottom of the screen no matter what it says. I especially dislike it when it cuts off a ball in the dirt or a shoestring catch.

As far as the minors, it seems that winning is the best way to avoid being stuck in places like Colorado Springs.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.
