begins to set the price for Lucroy though, you would think he would have to be worth atleast 15 million a year, if Cervelli gets 10.3.

Even though they are about the same age, Cervelli doesn't have the track record or offensive numbers that Luc has put up. Really only one year (last year) as a full time player. But he seems like he gave up some cash. The MLB Trade Rumors guys had predicted a 3-year/$39M deal this off season - assuming he continued to produce all year. Still a nice deal for a guy who was considered a back up two years ago.

Lucroy would be a bargain if he signed a 4 year $60 million extension that covered his age 31/32 to 34/35 years. Just wish both sides were interested. Heck Melvin signed Damian Miller to a 3 year deal when he was 35.

If we had more pitching, sure. But we don't.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Cervelli broke his hand - out 4-6 weeks. Bet he's glad he signed that extension now. If he came back and struggled, he'd have taken a big hit.

Signing an extension always has its risks - but also its rewards.
