I have a sneaking suspicion that they would take Perez in this scenario, but as a last name that is too perfect to pass up for the Brewers...

1.5 Riley Pint

If it means anything, the DBacks took Touki Toussaint in the middle of a run on college players in the 2014 1st round, and Montgomery took Trent Clark in last year's first round.

Ooh, on the road and I almost miss my Brewer Vote!.

Without a doubt the marketing factor on Riley "Pint" will result in Pints night. Any home game start of Pints results in all Beer purchases being $1 off. Get your Pint, Pints! And return with them through the season for .50 off a refill!

Riley Pint not only is selected but immediately signed to a 20year contract to always be a Brewer.

I think I gotta go Perez here. The potential Correa comparisons are too much to pass up.

1.5 Delvin Perez, SS

By the way, my high school classmate is first cousins with Riley Pint. Cuba City, WI will be beaming with pride on draft night.

This is a very interesting year - while there is no, "slam dunk" at the top, there are guys who should be picked higher than they will be. I could envision the Brewers passing on him if he's there, and I'm not certain he should even get to the Brewers in the first place ....

My vote .... Riley Pint.

With the 5th pick in the 2016 draft, the Brewers select Riley Pint, RHP, from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Kansas.

We had over 20 votes - so great participation. Perez put up a spirited battle, but by a 2 to 1 margin, the Brewers went with the high powered arm of Pint instead of the raw athleticism of Perez. Rutherford and Ray each got a vote as well.

The Oakland Athletics are on the clock. Please get your vote in by EOD on Thursday, June 2.

With the Brewer pick complete, I encourage everyone to stick around for the rest of the top 10 picks. I realize some people won't be interested, or feel like they have researched things, but it's all good fun. Please play along if you can.

Thanks.

Quick mid-draft question - how are people liking the format of the community draft? Just kind of wondering what reactions were to the entire process?

My only comment would be that if we do this again, do we have people message me (or whomever is running things) their pick instead of posting it in the thread? I only ask because I wonder if other people's selections could be affecting other people (example - someone comes to make the 1st pick - they see that Groome is carrying the selection, so they just go ahead and vote for Groome). Not sure if this is a concern with anyone. We're reasonably knowledgable, and I hate to put barriers to participation up.

Thanks again for so many people taking part in this. I was hoping for 10 or 12, but we got quite a bit more - over 20 for the Brewer selection.

The Oakland Athletics select with the sixth pick in the Rule 4 First year player selection draft Nick Senzel, Third Baseman, from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville.

This just feels like an Oakland selection.

The Athletics select Dakota Hudson, RHP, Mississippi State University (Starkville, MS) @ 1.6

The last time they picked a RHP named Hudson from an SEC school it went OK, so they go back to the well.

At #6, Oakland signs Delvin Perez. Taking high ceiling here plus younger aged. This is akin to Addison Russel's draft choice in their minds. He'll certainly be a coveted trade piece for the next 4 years you think of him in the minors, due to the age and saying he just needs time to come in to his own. Regardless if Perez is batting a .225/.305/.310 line those 4 years. He's golden on defense at SS teams will drool at that and Oakland gets to own that with this pick.
