With the 2nd pick of Round 1 of the 2015 draft, the Cincinatti Reds select OF Kyle Lewis of Mercer.

The Braves are now on the clock. Please make your selection by Saturday, May 28 (we are giving two days for this pick, since we're avoiding doing picks on the weekend - we'll close the picks for the Braves on by EOD on Saturday, then open up for the #4 pick with the Rockies on Sunday. That pick will go through Tuesday, May 31, so we have a full weekday to make the selection. We aren't counting Monday - which is Memorial Day - as a weekday for this exercise).

Lewis got 10 votes, Senzel got 7. Pretty close. Perez and Ray also got a vote on this pick.

Thanks again to everyone for voting. Keep playing along.

1.3 Mickey Moniak

The Braves have a huge draft pool and I think it makes sense for them to take a slightly under-slot guy and go after some sliding names when they draft again in the 40's. If Moniak won't sign under slot, Senzel or Ray would make sense as well. They're top heavy on pitching in the minors as well, which is why I think bat.

Just because a blurp from Callis

Braves select 1.3 Josh Lowe 3b Marieta,GA

They love Georgia boys in draft. With their draft pool. They'll get the best that falls to their 40&44picks. Much like Houston getting Daz Cameron in 2nd rd.

Atlanta has amassed the picks to go big with a draft slot undersigning with 1st pick. I know they just got Baltimore's comp pick this past week so expect big signings after this selection. Why? Lowe? GA boy who won't be there at 40 like any fallen prep pitchers

The Atlanta Braves select with the Third pick in the Rule 4 First year player selection draft Mickey Moniak, Outfielder, from La Costa Canyon HS, Carlsbad California. This is assuming that Moniak will take a below slot deal to allow the Braves to throw over slot money at somebody who falls to 40 or 44.

The challenge with the Braves pick here is there are two conflicting schools of thought when it comes to their selection. There are even some rumors that the Braves front office staff are split over the decision regarding what direction to go with the #3 selection. Some mock drafts and draft speculation have the Braves going after a college bat with their first pick and then setting their sights on high school infielder Carter Kieboom with the comp pick (the theory being they wouldn't want two high schoolers with their top two selections). While that is possible, a combination of what the Braves have focused on over the past two years by acquiring young high ceiling prospects at every opportunity and the fact they have reportedly been heavier on Groome than any team outside of the Rockies and A's leads me to this...

1.3: Braves - Jason Groome, LHP, Barnegat HS (NJ)

The Rockies have been rumored to be high on both Riley Pint and Mickey Moniak. This one seems like a coin toss, but since we must choose one I'll go with...

Mickey Moniak, OF, La Costa Canyon HS (CA)
