BF.net Community Draft (Top 5 picks only)

Would people be interested in doing a community Mock Draft of the first five picks (essentially up to, and including, the Brewers)?

 

The idea would be that a week before the draft, we let anyone interested in playing along post their first pick (the idea being who you think the Phillies will take - not who you want them to take, or who you think is the best pick).

 

We take votes for a day, and whatever player is voted for the most, gets slotted as the #1 pick. You then open up the board for the 2nd pick in the draft - that goes for a day, then onto the 3rd pick the next day, etc., until the Brewers make a pick - the 5th in the draft. Five days - one pick a day. Done. Nothing else. After that, I'd just pack it up and be done. While it might be fun to do more, not that many people get that far into the weeds about the amateur draft.

 

The cool part is that it's short - just five picks - and everyone gets to participate every round. And it only takes a second to hop online and cast your ballot for that day. if a person misses a day, no big deal. And there's really not a big amount of housekeeping to do this. I could just start a new thread, provide links to the various mock drafts, and then update the picks as we go.

 

Obviously, we need more than just a few people to do this. If we could get 10+ people, that would make it kind of interesting.

I am in. I wouldn't hate extending it to a few picks beyond #5 just to increase the odds we "draft" the guy that ultimately goes to the Brewers.

 

Also an early wrench is going to be how serious you consider the rumors that the Phillies are going to select a Mickey Moniak or Blake Rutherford type in order to bank pool money for other selections.

 

Love this idea, it is going to be intriguing to see how the top 5-to-10 picks fall in this year's draft.

I think 10 picks would be a good idea. It really wouldn't be any more challenging than 5 picks. Heck I have heard 10 guys just as an option at #5.

Okay, I've got 11 affirmative replies. With myself, that should give us enough voters to make this work okay.

 

I think making it a Top 10 is not a bad idea. We just have to start earlier, so we won't have as much information about what's going on with teams. I also want to avoid voting on weekends and Memorial Day - so we'll start in about a week. I'll set up a page today (I'll lock this one as well).
