Medeiros is looking very strong tonight through 3. Hopefully, he has figured something out.

Geez the epitome of a pitchers duel, only 4 hits between the teams in 10 offensive half innings, unfortunately the Manatees only have 1.

Medeiros finally gave up a run. He ends up 6 2/3 with 8K/1BB and 6/1 GO/FO. This has to be his best game this year. Could have avoided the run with a little better fielding too.

Those of you out there, let me know your opinion on this. Andy Wilkins has played over 500 minor league games over the years with only 18 in the OF. He misplayed a ball tonight that cost the Sky Sox one run and the game since it ended 1-0. Don't we have anyone in the minor league league system that can play outfield at AAA instead of sticking an infielder out there? Kyle Wren or anyone? I think Wilkins has started in OF a few times this year but it makes no sense to me. Are we that restricted with the AAA roster to pickup another outfielder?

I can honestly say that I don't care what filler is playing if a legit prospect isn't in that spot. If MiLB losses meant that much to me I wouldn't cover the T-Rats, the only years they've won they didn't really have prospects on the team. I'm much more concerned with David Denson DHing and being viewed primarily as an OF...

Burgos getting progressively better in every start. Not that he's a prospect or anything, but the Brewers will need someone to log some starts and eat some innings this year. At least Burgos looks like he may be able to do that.

Brevard County Box Score

The outing for Kodi Medeiros was chronicled in earlier posts, here's hoping Kodi can string together some more similar outings.

Hitters were less successful although leadoff hitter Johnny Davis continues to hit, this time with two hits including a double.

Brevard County Game Log

No hits tonight for Scooter Gennett who had a walk, a fly out, and a strikeout. As you hopefully noticed in tonight's game story, Scooter did share some praise for Medeiros' pitching.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Brandon Macias smacked his first home run of the season in the loss to Jacksonville on Tuesday (Michael Krebs)

Biloxi Boxscore

Dang that's 2 clunkers in a row for Jorge Ortega, this could be teams making the adjustment to him after seeing him for the first time. Hobbs Johnson continues his AA struggles as well, pitching exclusively in relief his ERA is up over 5. I doubt that any team in the system consistently uses as many pitchers in a night as Biloxi does, is this about getting all the relievers consistent work, managing to win, or a combination of both?

Brandon Macias (2-4,HR) had the only multi-hit game and good for him, I honestly didn't remember he was still in the system.

Biloxi Recap

Jorge Ortega was sunk by the 2nd and 3rd innings, the error in the 3rd didn't help.

Jacksonville Top of the 2nd

  • Austin Dean triples (2) on a fly ball to right fielder Tyrone Taylor.
Brady Shoemaker out on a sacrifice fly to right fielder Tyrone Taylor. Austin Dean scores.
Moises Sierra homers (1) on a line drive to left field.
Francisco Arcia grounds out, shortstop Javier Betancourt to first baseman Garrett Cooper.
Peter Mooney singles on a ground ball to center fielder Kyle Wren.
Jarlin Garcia flies out to left fielder Victor Roache.

  • Yefri Perez singles on a line drive to center fielder Kyle Wren.
Jeremias Pineda reaches on a force attempt, throwing error by first baseman Garrett Cooper. Yefri Perez to 3rd.
    J. T. Riddle singles on a ground ball to right fielder Tyrone Taylor. Yefri Perez scores. Jeremias Pineda to 2nd.

"The Timber Rattlers were rained out on Tuesday night, but I did have a chance to see them play on Monday as 2015 first round pick Trent Clark made his Wisconsin debut. The Rattlers lost by a score of 6-3 but Clark finished 1-for-3 with a double and a pair of walks while scoring two runs. Here are a few of my shots from Monday night."

Final: New Orleans 1, Colorado Springs 0

Sky Sox Silenced 1-0 By Zephyrs

Sky Sox shutout by four New Orleans pitchers on Tuesday night

By Aaron Cheris / Colorado Springs Sky Sox

***

"The Zephyrs took the lead in the fourth. On Andino's triple, Sky Sox center fielder Michael Reed ran into the center field wall and had to be taken out of the game. Keon Broxton replaced him in center field for the rest of the game."

Colorado Springs Box Score

For those with MiLB.TV access, go to the 52:30 minute mark. Michael Reed stayed on his feet but ran head and neck first into the center field wall, and it looked terribly awkward. Reed spent the next few minutes bent over with his hands on his knees. He left on his own feet, so hopefully this was precautionary.

I'm more interested in an off-shoot of Wilkins in the outfield. It has meant Cecchini has been logging many innings as the first baseman lately. Is Middlebrooks that much better defensively at 3rd? Are the Brewers thinking of Cecchini more as a left-handed platoon option at first should Carter generate great trade interest?
