That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

The idea has previously been forwarded that we should piggyback starters and only have guys pitch 2 times through the order. I'm wondering who, aside from Nelson is even capable of getting through 3 or 4 innings without giving up 4 runs ( or more)

I have to work a little later, miss only 2 innings..but I missed a runner called out for passing another runner. I am pretty upset to have missed that. MLB better put the replay up pretty soon

Don't feel too bad, you also missed the confusing replay challenge that went with it.

But I have never seen one of these in my baseball watching career, I will still count it though

The ump didn't even call the out after the replay. He explained it to the managers, but the run total on the scoreboard didn't change, even though the number of outs did. The fans in the park were left completely in the dark. Bill Schroeder suggested that maybe the umps ought to be miked. That might not be a bad idea.

Keeping in mind that Walsh is seeing MLB for the first time, at least first extended time that I'm aware of, it's clear he's pretty lost at the plate. He's swinging at balls and taking strikes. I have zero issues giving him continued at-bats and seeing if he can just figure things out, but as a fan of what he can bring to the table, he's pretty brutal to watch.

Not that it really matters that much, but the complete lack of any pitcher on this staff to execute a sacrifice bunt is funny. Fernandez is tough, so at least Peralta didn't spike himself, but I can't remember the last time I've seen this team bunt a runner with a pitcher successfully. Usually it's just a strikeout.

Why is there no way for umpires to communicate to the fans and viewing audience what happened in baseball? The NFL has a guy that is mic'd up and explains stuff that needs explaining.

In baseball they just go on their merry way and don't give a care in the world if the onlookers get an explantion as to what in the world just happened.

that new rule where you are not allowed to start an inning if you have more than 100 pitches is going to help us tonight. 20 years ago Fernandez would throw a shutout based on his dominance tonight, but now we will get 2 chances against the bullpen

At some point, the home team has to take responsibility for communicating with its fans. The guys in the press box knew what was going on. So did both of the managers. No reason the home manager can't relay the information to the stadium announcer. No reason, the home team can't put the relay on the scoreboard either.

Tradition that's why. They've always done it that way so why should they change now?

In some cases, we actually need an explanation from New York. In this case, what happened was apparent to everyone except the fans in the park. Quite naturally, they were occupied watching the ball leave the park rather than what the runners were doing around first base.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I wonder if Ichiro gets mad when he walks this year. Reminds of a time when Jose Canseco was on the White Sox at the end of his career. I was hanging out around the dugout before the game and I asked him if he would rather hit 3 HRs today or have the White Sox win the game and he just laughed.
