...anyone have suggestions for a good inexpensive model?

 

It will be used for wifi and a 2nd computer, not much else.

no, the only router...

 

We have a modem that my computer is connected to, the router is connected to the modem. Connected to the router is a second computer.

 

Am I saying this correctly? I am not a techie by any means, but I do know that the router is not working correctly any longer...

Yes. The modem is what plugs into the wall and the router transmits the signal to other computers and your wireless devices. Many times they are the same thing.

 

How fast is your internet connection? I wouldn't buy a cheap router unless your internet connection is really bad. That way your bottleneck won't be your router and you won't be looking for an upgrade soon. This is the least expensive one I have been considering.

Fan is short for fanatic.

You're better off getting a dual router. It made a huge difference for me at my home upgrading. I think it cost $70
