Eric also posted a six minute video from Devin Williams outing...

We're so spoiled - look at that HD quality, now about that wind sound...

Nice to see 19-year-old Panamanian catcher Johel Atencio behind the dish, missed all of 2015 after surgery for a right elbow fracture last May.

Heck of a write-up on that Manatee game.

The best part about the most awesome name in MiLB is that it's "Joey", it wouldn't be the same if it was Colin Pankake, or Barry Pankake, or even Joe Pankake.

No, it's Joey Pankake, freakin' awesome.

Jake Gatewood has been on fire lately, but until he learns to take walks he is never going to amount to anything.

We all love walks....OBP is more important than OPS (according to Moneyball, as OPS undervalues OBP), but isn't that a bit of an overstatement?

Final: Oklahoma City 4, Colorado Springs 3

Ouch - this one hurts...

Sky Sox Fall To Dodgers 4-3

Despite a strong start from Brent Suter, the Dodgers prevailed 4-3 on Saturday

Colorado Springs Box Score

Wouldn't you know it, RHP Jacob Barnes had not given up a single run all season; RHP Damien Magnifico unavailable due to recent use...

Colorado Springs Game Log

LF Michael Reed, batting 8th, tripled, only his 3rd extra-base hit of the season, almost unthinkable given his physique, but then again, he's never been a huge SLG guy (.377 for his career).

Have to believe that Andy Wilkins, seeing a lot of time in RF, is the 44th man on the 40-man roster (extra guys due to 60-day DL status).

Walks are nice, but for some of these young high risk guys like Gatewood just getting some positive momentum they can build on is huge. It's a lot easier to try and work on patience when you aren't pressing at the plate because nothing is falling.

I used to think it was a cool name too, but watching him own the Manatees over the course of the early season has made it lose its luster with me. :-)

Thank you for the compliment on the recap, I appreciate it.

Agreed. Gatewood walked 32 times in under 400 ABs as a 19 year old. Not great, but shows he's willing to take a few.

Most importantly, he has 10 hits in his last 20 ABs, with 3 home and a bunch of doubles.

He's still adjusting to the major fundamental changes to playing 3B, but has the tools to be a major defensive asset there.

He actually showed a decent eye last year. No he wasn't Kevin Youkillis or anything but 32 walks in 389ABs isn't terrible. But I do agree that zero walks so far is a bit troubling.

i think this pretty much sums it up. if you don't learn a little discipline, pitchers will eventually own you. right now, at the lower levels, he's probably okay. but he's going to have to figure out some things down the road. but there's time - he obviously has some talent - just got to give it time.
