Braun trade value now

I like the idea of Christian Arroyo as a piece. Then either Beede or Bickford. Both seem like 3/4 starters. Maybe throw in a lottery ticket.

Arroyo is interesting, but nothing amazing. If he could show a little more selectivity, it would really enhance his stock. The guy just doesn't walk very often. I read where he might profile best as a 3B. But he doesn't hit for much power (at least at this time).

Nothing short of Chris Shaw and either Bickford and Beede from Giants, plus they throw in Jarrett Parker to fill in open OF spot. If Brewers have to eat half his salary, I'd want Matt Duffy too and throw in Aaron Hill. Giants need to make room for Arroyo and they could move Crawford to 3B with Duffy gone.

One for record I'm again Braun Trade unless it is just something unbelievable with eating ton of salary..... There is absolutely nothing impressive enough that Giants can offer, I'm not a fan of their system at all

I hear you - fair points. But Arroyo is hitting .300 at AA at age 21. He may still develop and has good pedigree as a former first rounder. I agree he seems destined for 3b and you'd like more power than a 15 HR type there.

Between Bickford and Beede, it's interesting. Bickford is three years younger. So, he's more unknown. Beede is 23 already and not off to a great start at AA. I'd have to defer to the scouts on who has the higher upside.

Shaw as a 3rd piece makes sense.

Brewers would also likely get Parker or Williamson to fill in for Braun's corner OF spot. Neither has great upside but either might be better than whoever the Brewers would have left to stick in a corner OF spot. If Giants balk at including Arroyo, Duffy wouldn't be a bad alternative even though he's not having the kind of year he had in 2015.

I really don't want to trade Braun (for purely sentimental reasons of course), but if we do, we better eat a lot of the contract and get an absolute haul of prospects back. Get the best talent package you can, regardless of position, and figure out the rest later. Same with Luc.

Seconded...

Not enough Star power in the Giants prospects to settle for 2men back...Arroyo/Beede. And certainly not eating money for those two.

Bickford and Chris Shaw are the younger targets. Andrew Suarez reads like a Zach Davies/Chase Anderson. Take a Mac Marshall/Michael Santos and 4 for 1 I think could equal Braun's value though again, not the MVP or even All Star does one believe in the mix. Bickford the best shot.

Mlbtraderumors is reporting the Nightengale story too. Says the two teams have met and are talking trade for Braun.

The Giants system doesn't have the right pieces so it would have to be quantity starting with Beede and Bickford and the Brewers not paying much if anything on his deal.

Arroyo I'm not sure fits the team now. It's one of the few positions of depth in Villar and Arcia.

Thing is, there's usually a team or two ready to make those "unreasonable" trades at the deadline. Emotion takes over. I've said it before, but a lot of it has to do with how hot Braun, Lucroy, or anyone else is leading up to the deadline. It "shouldn't" matter, as they both have a long body of work. But again, this is about emotion. The chance to put a big bat in your line-up, usually someone will overpay for that.

I agree with the others who have said any trade would have to start with Chris Shaw and Phil Bickford. However, I'm greedy so I would eat as much of Braun's contract to bring back some more pieces. With the way he's producing and the lack of impact bats on the market, It's not unreasonable to ask for either Christian Arroyo or Tyler Beede in addition to Shaw and Bickford. I'm also not against adding a reliever to make this a blockbuster deal. There's a couple guys like Michael Santos and Rodolfo Martinez that I would like to have in our system.

Some of y'all have some completely unreasonable values on Braun and Luc lol

Or you're just wrong.

Oh yes, I'm sorry, we're totally going to get Lucas Giolito or Yoan Moncada AND THEN SOME for Lucroy. :laughing

Yeah, crazy return for the most valuable player on the trade market. What's next, Addison Russell for Jeff Samardzija??! :laughing ;)

Whether you want to admit it or not, I have a better chance of banging Margot Robbie than we do of acquiring Lucas Giolito or Yoan Moncada for Lucroy. But keep up the good work.

Giolito probably not, because the Nationals do not need a catcher that badly and because they need Giolito in their rotation going forward. But not because of the ridiculous notion (popular on the internet) that top prospects are untradeable, even for star-caliber major league contributors. Prospects are simply not that valuable.

As for Moncada, here is [sarcasm]notorious pro-Brewers shill[/sarcasm] MLB Trade Rumors just the other day:

It’s also possible Vazquez himself could be sent to Milwaukee as part of the Lucroy trade package, though clearly not as the headliner — the Brewers would demand at least one (or even two) of Yoan Moncada, Andrew Benintendi, Rafael Devers or Anderson Espinoza.
