AUDIO: Thursday's pre-game interview with Sky Sox Manager Rick Sweet

I've always contended we learn quite a bit during player and staff interviews, even with the occasional polite or inconsequential question. Dan Karcher does a nice job of covering multiple topics in his interviews, particularly with Sweet...

Chiefs Hold Rattlers to Two Hits

Peoria shuts out Wisconsin for second night in a row

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Wisconsin Boxscore

Chris pointed out during the broadcast that the Rattlers have double digit strike outs 4 times this year and all against the Chiefs, which of course is lame, as the Chiefs are the Cards' single A affiliate.

Blake Allemand (2-4) had the only Rattler hits, though David Denson did walk twice.

On the prospect front both Monte Harrison and Jake Gatewood are sub .200 at this time while Isan Diaz has slipped all the way down to .236.

M-Braves shutout Shuckers to snap four-game win streak

Braves score all five runs in the first inning on Thursday night

Biloxi Boxscore

The wild version of Adrian Houser has started the season in Biloxi which is unfortunate. His best outing from a control standpoint was the first, but he gave up a boat load of hits and 7 ER. Today Houser was followed by Martin Viramontes with 3 scoreless, but he didn't strike out anyone and walked 3 himself. Stephen Peterson pitched a perfect inning to end the game with 2 strike outs.

Nate Orf (2-3) was the majority of the Biloxi offense tonight, though Kyle Wren did walk twice.

Final: Clearwater 2, Brevard County 1

Threshers beat Brevard County on bases loaded walk

Donald Rieber Jr., Brevard County Manatees Examiner

Brevard County Box Score

Nice writeup by Mr. Rieber of a characteristically weak performance...

Ned Yost IV is in his fifth season as a coach with Brevard County. He previously spent three seasons as a full-time coach with the Rookie Helena Brewers (2009-11). He served as an assistant coach with Helena in 2008.

Yost played in the organization as an infielder for three seasons (2005-07) after he was signed as a non-drafted free agent out of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 2005.

Ned resides in Pine Mountain, Georgia. He is the son of former Brewers manager and current Royals skipper, Ned Yost.

Yost is joined by Edwin Maysonet this year.

Just saying, it can't all be Florida State League stadium and weather conditions...

Brevard County Game Log

Pitches-strikes: Woodruff 87-52

Four innings plus one batter -- why is this becoming such a pattern, while opposing pitchers consistently post six and seven inning starts against the 'Tees? No wonder Jorge Ortega's work is so refreshing in terms of efficiency...

Sigh ---

Brevard County Top of the 9th

Angel Ortega strikes out swinging, catcher Gabriel Lino to first baseman Kyle Martin.

Clint Coulter singles on a ground ball to shortstop Malquin Canelo. Clint Coulter advances to 2nd, on a throwing error by shortstop Malquin Canelo.

George Iskenderian singles on a ground ball to center fielder Carlos Tocci. Clint Coulter out at home on the throw, center fielder Carlos Tocci to catcher Gabriel Lino.

Dustin Houle grounds out, pitcher Jesen Therrien to first baseman Kyle Martin.

***

Houle's slow start seems particularly disappointing, at least his .333 OBP stands out as impressive when compared among this struggling bunch.

Sky Sox Walk Off To Top Sounds 8-7

Seesaw battle goes Sky Sox way as Pina provides walk-off single to end epic battle

Colorado Springs Box Score

Entertaining for the local fans, that's for sure...

This was RHP Tim Dillard's first appearance since he was activated from the Helena taxi squad on 4/16; on that day, RHP Jacob Barnes was placed on the Temporary Inactive List, a set of transactions not noted earlier.

RHP Jorge Lopez has walked ten in 11.1 innings -- across all levels, most Brewer "top" prospects are off to less than ideal starts, to put it mildly.

Am I the only one who gets momentarily thrown off looking at the box score when the Sky Sox play the Sounds?

The other day, I clicked on the boxscore and wanted to look into some player's MiLB page. So I clicked on the Sounds team page link and was in the roster page before I realized my error... :(
