2016-04-21 Twins (Nolasco) at Brewers (Jungmann), 12:40 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 8-1]

1992casey

Not to mention his fast ball is sitting at 89-91...not going to work.

Well, yeah, but it's not like he threw gas last year. This is what he is and, if he can't command the curve, he can't get guys out. And as I type this Ricky Nolasco takes one to the warning track.

Not saying he did, but all of his fastballs in the 2nd were 88mph except one at 87mph and one at 90mph. That seems low even for him.

The new Moneyball: RHP who throw in the high 80s. Now we see why Stearns made the deal for Lind.

Maybe he has a little dead arm issue going on?

Why not let a good hitter like Jungmann swing away there? I get that you can possibly have a double play but so can any other player. Just giving away outs there.

You are right. His velocity is down about 2 miles per hour to start the year. Sometimes that can be attributed to the beginning of the year. If it continues into May it could be a problem.

The curve looks to be more of an issue right now.

Walks. Doesn't matter what kind of stuff you have, walks will be the end of you being in the majors. Get it together Jungmann.

Wasn't Jungmann about 92 with his fastball last year, even in his first start this year? He's down more like 4 mph. Tired or sore or both? Little command either. Alarm bells all over the place.

92-94 was the scouting report when we called him up.

His pitch f/x had him average 91.9 last year. This year it's at 90.1. Last year his max speed was 95ish and low speed of 88ish.

If he's sore, it affects velocity and command.

If he's sore, then he shouldn't be pitching. Take it to the DL and let's have a guy that will get some outs up here.

Come on Brewers offense, take advantage of the Twins not putting this one away already.

Jungmann averaged 92 on his fastball last year and several times a game he would hit 94-95. This year it's 90.1 and he tops out at 92. That's a pretty huge difference in one offseason.

That's what I thought. And his velocity sips really fast during a start.

Tip of the cap to Cappy right there! Keeps us alive in this game. Come alive offense, come alive!

Lets stick Capuano in the rotation, he's getting the job done!

Nolasco must be pitching well because this is one of the first games I've seen the Brewers swing outside the strike zone so much. That patient approach, not really happening today.

Steady diet of breaking balls to Serrano Carter there. Wouldn't give in and toss him a heater. Result is a weak ground ball to end the inning.

Freeman definitely should be on his way out the door.

Torres should be a short leash after that. There has to be guys out there or in our minor leagues that can do better than this.
