Blake Swihart

Christian Vasquez is the superior defensive catcher in Boston and will most likely push Swihart out of that role. Swihart is an athletic guy that most likely can play other positions as well. I know we have Nottingham on the way but maybe Swihart is a guy we target as a backup to Luc until he's traded and then he's more of a utility guy that catches as well. This guys bat will eventually hit and could be a good piece of us moving forward.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I'd be happy to give Swihart a look-see, but it's comical how overrated Boston's system is, year in and year out. It's not just Peter Gammons, who has been a biased plague for around 40 years. Someone needs to develop an algorithm for adjusting Boston's farm rankings due to their bias. Look at the list of supposedly top notch prospects of recent years and how they haven't met lofty expectations. It's not just Middlebrooks and Cecchini. Swihart was trumpeted up although its certainly too early to write him off. There are a number of pitchers too that are proving to be mediocrities.
