"Celebration to Surgery for Three College Pitching Star

Not sure if this is the ideal place for this, or if there even is one, but there was a really good article in the NYT yesterday about the three Rice aces from the 2004 draft (Humber, Townsend, Niemann). Here's one interesting quote:

According to Glenn Fleisig, the institute's director of research, who wrote the paper with Andrews and others, the results showed that those who often pitched through fatigue; pitched more than eight months a year; pitched in four or more showcases or tryouts in their careers; or had poor mechanics and conditioning were more likely to need surgery than those who did not.

interesting to read that. I haven't seen Humber, but I sure remember being scared of Niemann and Townsend based on mechanics. At the time, I felt Baker would have the best career of the 4
