Come on board!

If you'd like to be a Link Report contributor, feel free to drop me a note via this Brewerfan Forum private message link.

In particular, we're seeking "part-time" contributors who can job-share when others need much-deserved time off. At most, you'd be responsible for linking to a single box score / game log / game summary for the night, and (hopefully) pointing out any specifics of interest in the box that the summary may have overlooked.

NOTE: We have made the decision that for game summaries this season, we will be linking directly to the affiliate website (as we always did), but not simultaneously copying and pasting here, which was one of the more tedious aspects of Link Reporting in the past.

Next-morning newspaper reports will often be treated similarly, as well as any blog posts we come across.

Thanks.

Is the MILB app working for anyone else? The schedule is still stuck on last September so the current games aren't being shown.

The only team that worked for me last night was the T-Rats but I didn't have time to play with it.

edit. I see you already fixed the problem so never mind.

So it's a 27 degree wind chill and 23mph winds in Beloit. It couldn't get any worse, right?... Well now the lights have gone out and there is going to be at least a 20 minute "lights out" delay. Unbelievable.

Good News is Isan Diaz can still square up & smoke a ball in 20 degree weather.... 2-2 1bb and a HR!

Can you blame Diplan, a 19 year old Dominican player for struggling in weather 40-50 degrees colder than he has ever played in before

This T-Rat game has been irritating for many reasons, but it looks like the game is going to be called after the 5th.

edit. It's actually a 30 minute visibility delay (wind and snow) at this point.

It looks like Javi Salas hides the ball well against RHB. He wraps his arm behind his back, sort of like Mike Fiers, which I imagine gives righties a late read on the pitch. It also looks like he throws a bit harder than Fiers, with more sink. I hadn't seen him pitch before - I'm a big fan now.

Phillips just murdered a ball to deep left field, way out of the park opposite field. If you're questioning his power after his performance with Biloxi last year, I don't think you should be, judging by the 3 ABs I've seen of him this year.

Final: Biloxi 6, Chattanooga 2

Shuckers' game recap:

Three homers back Salas in 6-2 victory

Biloxi Box Score

Maverick Phillips led the Shucker charge with 3 of the squad's 9 hits, including a double and a monster oppo blast that I mentioned above. And as I've said elsewhere, he's a premium defender in CF with range and huge arm. What you get out of him on the offensive side is icing on the cake. If he keeps showing that his power surge over the last few years in the Astros' system is for real, that's a lot of icing.

Elsewhere, Jacob Nottingham and Victor Roache notched their first jacks of the year. Nate Orf added two hits including a double. No walks for the Shuckers tonight, though Kyle Wren did see almost 30 pitches in his 0-4 performance.

Biloxi Game Log

Javi Salas took a no-no into the 6th and looked impressive, pounding the zone with sinking fastballs. Wound up with 8 K's and no walks in 5 and 2/3 innings. He's definitely on my radar now.

Biloxi Bottom of the 6th

Nate Orf flies out to right fielder Travis Harrison.

Brett Phillips singles on a bunt ground ball to pitcher D. J. Baxendale.

Jacob Nottingham grounds into a double play, shortstop Engelb Vielma to first baseman D. Hicks. Brett Phillips out at 2nd.

Besides the double and home run, Phillips also legged out a bunt single.

Chattanooga Top of the 9th

Pitching Change: Jaye Chapman replaces Daniel Tillman.

Joe Maloney strikes out swinging.

D. J. Hicks strikes out swinging.

Travis Harrison flies out to right fielder Tyrone Taylor.

Has to be a little disappointing for Jaye Chapman (and Daniel Tillman) to be back in AA. But all they can do is keep their noses to the grindstone and wait for the call back to AAA and beyond.
