2016 Minor League Regular Season Transaction Thread

RHP Jorge Lopez was placed on the Temporary Inactive List at Colorado Springs, which allowed a roster spot to free up for RHP Wily Peralta.

I'm sorry if I missed this in a different thread, but what happened to Jorge Lopez that caused him to go to the Inactive List? Is this just a mid-season "clear the head" move, or is something going on with him personally?

Organization is rotating nearly all their pitchers through mini-breaks at various points in the season; while this could be a legitimate use (perhaps the need to attend a wedding or a funeral or attend to another family matter), this also my be the new "placed on Helena paper roster", which they can't quite do now that the Helena season is underway.

What is the significance of having Williams and Kirby on the AZ 60 day DL? I'm guessing it means nothing, just curious why they're under AZ DL instead of BC or some other team. And why they wouldn't just be on the DL for the entire season for that matter.

TWEET: Actually Adam McCalvy posted on this subject Monday

"Brewers prospect Jorge Lopez hasn't pitched since 6/11, but he's fine. Each Colo Springs starter is having a turn skipped. Lopez goes Thurs."

RHP Eric Hanhold came off the Manatees' Temp Inactive List to make the start Tuesday night.

A pitcher is going to come off the roster somehow, but that move wasn't announced today.

Turns out RHP Angel Ventura is taking a turn on the 7-day DL at Brevard, not 100% sure if it's actually injury-related or just part of the overall "break" plan.

Sorry to see 5th year farmhand Taylor Brennan go, if partly because he was a 37th round community college pick in 2012.

Brennan rode a strong OBP/SLG in 2014 as a Timber Rattler to a .778 OPS at a position of need, third base. That 2015 line at Brevard (.665 OPS) was actually pretty solid, as Space Coast Stadium dropped his 2014 HR total of 16 down to 3, but Brennan still managed 32 extra-base hits. 2016 had been a struggle.

Good luck moving forward, Taylor, both on the field and off.

Taylor Brennan interviews and highlights from MiLB.com - Check them out

That was posted June 12th.

Brennan has landed with the New Jersey Jackals of the independent Can-Am League, two games already under his belt.

Corey Ray assigned to the Manatees per TH tweet. I don't recall the Brewers ever starting a draft pick above A ball.

Aggressive placement but really age wise, he is slready older than the Helena & Wisconsin OFs & more polished. Makes sense. Hope people don't get on him if he struggles since it is BC & a nightmare for hitters

Proud member since 2003 (geez ha I was 14 then)

FORMERLY BrewCrewWS2008 and YoungGeezy don't even remember other names used

Rob Ellis started out in the majors in 1971.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

From Saturday's Link Report --

That was the end of Bubba Derby’s night for the Manatees, as he gave way to Junior Rincon after 4.1 innings pitched and seven hits, five coming in that fifth inning. Derby allowed three earned runs, struck out five and walked one. He threw 93 pitches, 63 strikes. Rincon did a great job to kill the rally, as he struck out Green and Kyle Martin, to get out of the bases loaded jam. “He did a great job and he earned a promotion to Double-A too,” said Manager Joe Ayrault of Rincon. “He’s flying out tomorrow. He’s been doing a great job for us and we’ll definitely miss him. I’m real happy for him.”

***

Rincon (career stats at the link above), a 24-year-old Dominican native with a big arm, was released by the Marlins in January 2014 and signed by the Crew that June. He would spend the next two summers in Helena, where he often served as closer, and quite often, not successfully, but obviously the Brewers saw something. The organization bumped Rincon past Wisconsin this year, and now he's on his way to Biloxi before July.

No word quite yet on a corresponding move for the Shuckers.

I don't recall the Brewers staring a draft pick above A ball since I started caring about the Brewers :)
