You guys think Broxton will maintain something close to this and worth riding for the stretch? I could use an upgrade but I don't need SBs because I have Dee Gordon and others, so Broxton's value is a little lower for me but still thinking about doing it.

Exactly, I have next week as last of regular season with playoffs locked but still battling for first round bye. I decided to grab him yesterday but not play him in order to give him another week to see what happens. If he crashes back I just won't play him, but I figured if he did well someone else would grab him by the weekend. My issue is that I basically have one spot that just isn't good in my lineup. It's a 12 team league and has two utilities, so we're digging at the bottom of the barrel. If I get the bye I'll basically have 3 more weeks before I need him, if he's still doing well by then I think I can trust him in the playoffs since he'll have a much larger sample size. We'll see...

Broxton is just missing too many games to be trusted for the playoffs starting next week. I'm actually tempted to pick up Carlos Gomez right now. He's been playing everyday since going to TX and getting on base at least once and stealing bases. I might need the SBs now since Dee Gordon has gone to garbage the last few weeks. Other options are Upton on Tor, who is missing too many games, Brett Gardner who is just blah, or trying to guess with STL player gets PT and hot that week.

Playoff matchup to get to Championship. My team hadnt batted below .232 in any single week matchup. So of course-.167/227 this week.OB worse than worst BA week. Lead League with .287BA. If I dont win to take 3rd next week Ill have won $0 this year, while winning the most Cats, But far fewer Ties that had me finish 3rd 5.5games from 1st. I may have to take a break from Fantasy Baseball. 3 of 5seasons in this League, 4th and no money. Won it all last season so puts me just above even.

I have a couple keeper situations that I am more than perplexed about.

Situation #1:

12 teams, very active and competitive, total point scoring

Took first place in the league last year.

I can keep 5 players

1. Votto (1B)

2. :) Correa (ss)

3. Braun (of)

4. G. Stanton (of)

5. :) Kershaw (sp)

6. :) Sale (sp)

7. :) deGrom (sp)

8. Tanaka (sp)

9. Wainwright (sp)

10. Stroman (sp)

I know for certain I am keeping Kershaw, deGrom and probably Sale. This is a pitcher heavy league, if I drop an ACE, I'll never get him back as the league values pitching a LOT! On the flipside, I can't imagine throwing guys like Votto, Correa, and Stanton back into the draft pool either. I know I'm letting Braun go, so I can cross him off the list. Losing Wainwright is going to hurt, and Tanaka is a wild card in my eyes. The one who intrigues me, that I might be able to get back via draft is Stroman...

Some extremely tough decisions to be made in that league for sure...

Situation #2

12 team VERY active and competitive league, total point scoring

I can keep 6, won this league last year by 500+ points, just killed it!

1. Prince Fielder (1B)

2. Lindor (ss)

3. Altuve (2b)

4. :) Bumgarner (sp)

5. :) deGrom (sp)

6. :) Kershaw (sp)

7. :) Sale (sp)

8. :) Scherzer (sp)

9. :) Syndergaard (sp)

10. Rodon (sp)

Kind of the same situation as situation #1, very heavy pitching league, if you drop an ACE, they will be drafted and gone for good!

I am extremely inclined to keep all 6 starting pitchers. Always seems to be an injury, and with my pitching covered, I can concentrate on nothing but offense and closers for the first 10 round.

Then there is Altuve, who is consistently ranked the #1 2B in fantasy baseball. In fact, I haven't seen a single website yet that didn't have him at #1. With 2B typically a weak fantasy position, he is another guy I might have to hang onto, to do so, I'd have to dump Syndergaard back into the pool. yikes!

This is who I am thinking of keeping: Bumgarner, deGrom, Kershaw, Sale, Scherzer, and Syndergaard...

Situation #3

10 teams, total point scoring

2nd place finish last year

keep 7

1. Abreau (1B)

2. Lindor (ss)

3. Mookie Betts (of)

4. :) deGrom (sp)

5. :) Sale (sp)

6. :) Strasburg (sp)

7. :) King Felix (sp)

8. :) Syndergaard (sp)

9. Wainwright (sp)

10. Matz (sp)

11. Stroman (sp)

12. Rodon (sp)

13. Kimbrel (rp)

Same as the above league, pitching is a premium...

As of now, I know I am keeping deGrom, Sale, Strasburg, Felix, and Syndergaard. The question now is, who will be the last 2? Can't really see myself throwing Abreu back into the draft pool. I'm pretty sure I won't be keeping Betts.

Any thoughts on my "situations" will be appreciated. Always nice to have input on keeper teams as I tend to get pretty one dimensional. I usually have pretty good success with my strategy, but as you can see, I am going to be throwing a LOT of premium talent back into the draft pool this year.

Thanks!

So, here is how things turned out for the 3 keeper teams I listed above before the season started.

Situation #1:

Final Standings: 1st place :)

Ended up keeping Votto, Correa, Kershaw, Sale and deGrom.

Correa and deGrom were both major disappointments, but I was able to draft well enough that I absorbed the loss and finished almost 500 points ahead of the 2nd place team.

Situation #2:

Final Stangings: 1st place :)

Ended up keeping Bumgarner, Kershaw, Sale, Scherzer, Syndergaard, and deGrom. All starting pitchers.

deGrom disappointed, but with those other 5 anchoring my starting rotation, I was able to overcome his poor season.

Mistake: Letting Altuve go back into the draft pool. Probably should have kept him over deGrom, but hindsight is always 20/20.

Situation #3

Final Standings: 3rd place :ohwell

Ended up keeping Abreu, Strasburg, Sale, Felix, Syndergaard, deGrom, Kimbrel

Many disappointments on this squad, starting with Abreu, deGrom, Felix and Kimbrel. All underperformed, and cost me another title. I finished only 75 points out of 1st place, so had any of those pitchers lived up to my expectations, I could have easily won that lague too.

Mistake: Letting Mookie Betts go back into the draft pool. Should have kept him and cut Kimbrel loose.

I finished first in regular season but with a little luck schedule wise so I'd consider myselft 2nd best team going into the playoffs. got a bye in week 1 then played what was probably the 3rd best team throughout the season. it's a category league and I believe I ended up losing 9-7 due to losing Rs by 1 and RBI by 2 or 3. I have Josh Donaldson and he missed 4 or 5 games that week due to an unexpected injury. Probably would've been enough tilt it my way if he'd just missed one game, but whatever, everyone can come up with what ifs like that.

I go on to win comfortably in the 3rd place game to get my buyin back. Would've played the best team and would've won 15-1, his team just laid a complete egg in the championship.
