Jenrry Mejia banned from MLB after third positive PED test

trwi7
NEW YORK -- New York Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejia made baseball history Friday, becoming the first player to be permanently suspended by Major League Baseball for performance-enhancing drug use.

MLB announced the suspension Friday, saying that Mejia tested positive for Boldenone and that the right-hander also is permanently suspended from playing Minor League Baseball.

It marked the 26-year-old Mejia's third positive PED test in the past calendar year, triggering the expulsion from baseball.

Mejia may apply to Commissioner Rob Manfred for reinstatement in one year, but would have to sit out a minimum of two years before being able to pitch again in the majors. He had been working as a starting pitcher in the Dominican Republic with Licey during winter ball.

How are you dumb enough to get caught three times in a year?

Braun got caught twice so what does that say about him? Hopefully a trade before ST!!!!

Braun got caught, but didn't test positive 3 times in a calendar year. Only 1 positive test and that result was thrown out (still positive though).

Mejia tested positive 3 times in less than 12 months. So, you can classify Braun as an idiot, but Mejia has taken it to a whole new level.

So, do you have to get caught 3 times in one year to get suspended (Or, did that just happen to be the case with Mejia)? I thought it was just 3 times period.

[sarcasm]Unfortunately, I don't think the Brewers can trade a certain segment of their fanbase to another team. Believe me, I've looked into it.[/sarcasm]

That's just the case with Mejia. If you're caught three times, you're out whether that's 10 months or 10 years.

3 Times in a year, How is that possable?

Don't you get suspended for 50 games for the 1st and 100 games for the 2nd and isn't that basicly a season. Shouldn't they stop taking them when they are suspended for you don't need the advantage then?

Braun failed a random test and won due to chain of custody violation. Selig paid X amount of dollars (aka bribed) to have documents, testimony, etc against some big names players including Braun. Failing three tests in a calendar year means he doesn't give two poops about the consequences
