a "Like" option

I've seen this before listed in the discussion forums, but not sure if anyone ever posted this here. you've probably already considered it, but just wanted to throw out there in case you haven't - about have a "like" or "heart" or "thumb up" option for each post, maybe located at the bottom of their post next to "quote" and "reply". I have no idea the feasibility of something like this, but would definitely appreciate and utilize that option. many times I am sitting nodding my head in avid agreement to something with no way to affirm the poster or add extra weight to the idea without having to add an additional post that is redundant to the discussion or just say, "great post", because that is awkward at times to the flow of the board- and I'd be doing it all the time.

I think a thumb down option could also work, but don't like its negative connotation which could be used to bully or create anxiety, discouraging someone from posting, which I think goes against the atmosphere that this board aims to create.

I am 100% in favor of a like button. I’ve thought this for awhile but figured it wasn’t feasible here. I’ve seen it in other boards and so many users use it that I believe it’s considered useful and valuable.

So often, I am ready to post something and lo and behold, someone already captured my thought process so I stay quiet. But it might be useful to know that folks agree with a certain point which reinforces the idea and sort of makes it stronger.

The other way is if someone writes a brilliant post outside the box, and there’s no way to pat them on the back.

Now, we are in the dark these ways, so if feasible, I hope we can go with it. Overall, I think the feature would gin up more energy.

Some sites add a confused or disappointed button, but my gut feel is that might be counterproductive but I’m open to it too.

Just my two cents.

My two cents is that while I agree a like button might concisely show agreement without clogging up a thread, I could see a negatively charged thread going after whose posts is liked more.

Seriously?

If that is the case, I'd LIKE those posters banned for life...

It might help and at this point anything would be welcome to counteract the deluge of crap posts that are filling up Brewerfan. I don't even bother reading the "Major League" or "Transaction Rumors / Proposals" anymore because of the deluge of repetitive posts and counter-posts that swamps out any intelligent discussion. Maybe posters would feel less inclined to feed the troll-like behavior if they could just signal like/dislike for a post. I know there is an "ignore" feature, but I have never used it, because even people, whom I disagree with on many occasions, make valid points now and then.

I don’t think a like or dislike feature would help with that much, but I agree with the rest. Nobody wants to read a page when half of it is one guy stating the same thing over and over and posting multiple times in a row. It would be nice to read threads and have productive conversations instead of having one person take over the entire thread.
