Interesting article would have Fresno becoming our AAA affiliate and our rookie league team moving into Colorado Springs. Can't we just not do anything with Colorado???

So here's an honest question: Why wouldn't the Rockies want their AAA team in C. Springs? It's right down the street, so it would be easy on travel expenses - AND it would get their pitchers accustomed to the type of conditions that they are going to be experiencing at the big league level? To me, this makes way too much sense. What am I missing?

Colorado had been with CS until last season.

Cleveland had been asked to vacate CS as the Rockies were being formed/ started for the 93 season...

Once a team has a 20+ yr run with an affiliate, you know the choice to move was not taken lightly..

Not quite. This is the last year of our contract and contracts with the cities are a minimum 2 years so they left after the 2014 season. This is our second year in that crap hole.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

i believe they left largely because of a sub par stadium.

This was the primary reason.

Some of the Rockies pitchers actually said playing in CS helped them become ready for Coors Field. Plus the hour drive between CS and Denver made logistics easy.

Contracts are always in even numbers (2-4-6).

Until last season is correct.

Colorado was there starting in 93 season. Final season was 2014. A 22 year season run.

They were there until last season

Maybe I was right all along.

The Fresno grizzlies affiliation Status update has been postponed until 4 PM tomorrow

I thought new deals couldn't be signed until the offseason. Meaning any announcement would be about extending a current affiliation.

thats not true, the brewers announced affiliation with the sky sox on September 18th, 2014. It would make sense though for it to be just a renewel with the astros.

For the minor leagues, the offseason starts in September.. Heck their post season is over before the major league regular season ends...

Either way this is still in-season for the minor leagues.

Rochester NY?

Yep.. And that also means the International League.

Adios to the hitter friendly Pacific Coast League

Keep your fingers crossed this happens...

This is the best option I see, Fresno is #2 (I think it's a more fair park than Vegas)

While the twins system is ok, with the loss of their GM and the Brewers standing as a top 2 system I'm sure they have to be appealing to the red wings

Fresno Bee Article Link: Astros will remain in Fresno through 2018.

Yeah, just to be clear, the Red Wings are in New York.

Teams can re-up with current affiliates at any time. But new affiliations will happen during September. It's too early right now.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I knew that the Twins had been with Rochester for a while so I always assumed it was Rochester, MN. Also the Red Wings name would have pointed to that.
