Side question: Were any of you as surprised by the return of a certain villain near the end of "Solo?" I definitely was not expecting that, even though, IIRC, this villain had come back in the stuff that is no longer considered canon.

Some of the Clone Wars cartoon series is canon. Not all of it was thrown out as some of its characters have become part of the canon.

Rebels is also considered canon which has a few characters from the Clone Wars series. Ahsoka Tano is thought to be considered canon now would be interesting if they work her into the Obi-Wan spinoff.

If you have watched Rebels a Disney product you will know what I am talking about here with Obi-Wan and the villain from Solo.

I agree Invader3K, I don't understand the negativity towards this movie. I was highly entertained from start to finish, which is what I look for when going to a movie...

The terrorists got me...was excited to go all spring and then I read reviews. Since I have the right setup at home to watch a Star wars type movie I decided i'd prefer to keep Emilia Clarke as Daenerys in my mind until Thrones is over....don't need to run any risk of ruining my favorite show of all.

Disney needs to sit down and figure out a long term plan, similar to what they did with the Marvel Universe. It seems like they keep piecing these things together based on the reaction of the last movie. It’s not that I don’t like the Clone Wars and I’m sure I’ll watch it. But it’s been over for how long now? Asohka already made appearance in Rebels where she and Thrawn kind of disappeared with no real explanation as to whether or not we’ll ever see them again. Now we go back in time with her again to the Clone Wars? The Star Wars universe is an absolute mess right now.

I believe this is Disney just saying sorry we ended Clone Wars early here is the makeup last season we were going to do and oh yeah subscribe to our new streaming service!

Basically Disney needed something to put on their new streaming service. I'm not sure why they ended Rebels as they could have used that instead of Clone Wars but whatever. I wouldn't be surprised if Rebels came back at some point also.

I think they just need to get past the final part of the Lucas original Star Wars and they will be able to do this. Right now the fans are stuck on the Lucas era Star Wars. I think going back into the past and doing something like the Knights of the Old Republic would be a good place to start. My favorite non cannon character is Revan and if they want to do the whole strong female character thing they can go with the after Revan timeline and do the The Exile's story line.

Another video game character that I like in the Star Wars universe is Darth Malgus. From the expanded universe Darth Bane wouldn't be a bad starting point either but then that starts to get into the Lucas era Star Wars with Plagueis. I really believe they either need to go far into the future or go far into the past. I hope they go far into the past as I love the Knights of the Old Republic story lines. It gives you the Mandalorians, the Sith, the Republic, and the old Jedi Order. I think a story line from there is far more interesting.

Normally I hate all fan made stuff but this was rather good. Kind of sad that Disney monetized this when Lucas Films told him he wouldn't be able to monetize or crowdfund this. He had to put all of his own money into this and Disney just goes ahead and basically steals it.

Watched Solo today. I got lost on how Emilia Clark's character is written. Separated to a great knowledgeable Somebody in the hierarchy of the villain within the film. Also, the guy who played young Solo, it seemed a number of scenes he portrayed Ford's voice well and others sounding like Chris Pine. Oh and L3 was a big problem of character they wrote in with Lando's emotional tie-in? There felt like some political reference being tossed in on her...it's? dialogue with today's society.

I was still entertained by the movie and if it was on it's own story with no ties to any Star Wars history, it'd even feel better.

Honestly I think Solo might be my favorite or second favorite movie. Rogue one the other. It’s just so light and action packed, not this crap like TFA where I sat for 3 hours and then...what happened?

Skywalker is an awful movie. Just pathetic.

Star Wars fans don't know what they want.

Movie that's a call back to the original trilogy? "BOOOOO!"

Movie that subverts expectations and changes the way we think about star wars? "BOOOOOOOO!" (Also with a side helping of death threats)

Go back to the "Safe" path and the tried-and-true formula? "BOOOOOOO! This craps all over what happened in the last movie that I didn't like (but saw 5 times in the theatre) anyways!"

Star Wars fans are the epitome of what's wrong with fandom. What's going on right now reminds me of when GoT wrapped up and 1.5 million people sent a petition to the white House to make them change the finale.

I will concede there is a segment of Star Wars fans that only seem to like Empire Strikes Back. Don't let them or the critics cloud your judgement. Audience reviews are holding strong for The Rise of Skywalker on Rotten Tomatoes, currently the same % as The Force Awakens. It's nowhere near as polarizing as The Last Jedi.

Well put. I think much if the problem is that Star Wars fans feel that every movie needs to be as good as a new hope snd empire simply because it is from the Star Wars universe. Rise of Skywalker was good, not great, but definitely not awful or pathetic. The Palpatine stuff was a bit weird but overall it was fun and entertaining.

I kind of wish I hadn’t read so many of the now “legends” books before Disney bought Lucasfilm. I thought, minus a few stories that were way out there, the general plot was much better than the one Disney put out. I think there is just too much random stuff in the sequel trilogy that should have been explained but wasn’t. First off, did we ever figure out who Snoke was or where he came from? Also, the Knights of Ren? Where did they come from and what was their purpose? Why did Han and Leia separate? I think Luke was completely underutilized. And barely any mention of the New Republic? The whole trilogy feels disjointed, kind of like they were making it up as they went.

It was certainly a mistake not to have a general plan from the start. Would have liked Johnson to finish things up or JJ do all three. It just didn't work going from JJ to Johnson and back to JJ. They both kind of just dismissed or threw out what they didn't like about the other's creation. Having the Emperor come back didn't work at all and made no sense but when Snoke was killed JJ probably felt he needed that big bad guy. Do think the chemistry between Rey/ Finn/Poe was always there and much better than Anakin/Padme/Kenobi from the prequels. Also was nice to see Chewbacca and C-3PO play a decent role in ROS.

I’ll probably get around to the sequel trilogy if my young son ever develops an interest in Star Wars.

If I understand Wikipedia correctly, the primary antagonist in Episode 9 is the same as Return of the Jedi. Does that strike anyone else as really lazy? It minimizes the significance of Vader killing Palpatine, which is also Anakin’s redeeming moment (rejecting the dark side, giving his life for his son’s).
