Allen Webster

crickets

Just 2 years ago was the Red Sox top pitching prospect, still only 23 years old, released by Pirates

"When the Sox acquired Webster from the Dodgers in the money-saving blockbuster in August 2012, he immediately laid claim to a place as the top pitching prospect in the Red Sox system, someone who could work in the mid- to high-90s with a bowling ball sinker and the ability to miss minor league bats with his changeup and two breaking balls. He was the foremost eye-opener of Red Sox spring training in 2013, with scouts from across baseball raving about his stuff."

Does Stearns have the "Chris Bosio" in our system to turn someone around and fix pitchers and make the best out of them?

Could be a good buy low on a minors deal. Doesn't seem to be injury concerns that caused the decent.

Webster's FB velocity is way down from where it was a few years ago, and to make it even worse his slider velocity has been up. Seems there is either a major mechanical problem, or something structural with his arm. If the Brewers think it's mechanical and they can fix it, sure a minor league deal makes sense.
