Lind, Lucroy, K-Rod available (as per Olney)

If you look at positional scarcity, the market for Lucroy could potentially be huge. There are many contending teams that would really upgrade their catcher position with Lucroy on board. I could see Stearns getting a trade offer on Lucroy that is too good to pass up. Would love to see Swihart plus other prospects from Boston, for instance

I think the Brewers willingness to trade Lucroy is a lot higher than what has been thrown around. A few weeks ago Shelby Miller was going nowhere and the Braves wanted a ridiculous package...now he is probably on the move. Jose Fernandez had a 1% chance of moving and a few hours later it was at 40%. I also remember rival execs saying the Brewers might actually hold onto Gomez and the next second he was nearly a New York Met.

Stearns said, "We don't need to trade Lucroy, we need more players like him." He is downplaying it a lot. Lets not beat around the bush...I know, you know, and Stearns knows Lucroy is not apart of the next competing team and needs to be traded in the next two years.

Lucroy's value will never get higher and it is well known teams don't like trading for catchers at the deadline. It is either this offseason or taking likely less next offseason. The interest is massive now and the Brewers will get an incredible offer that they won't pass up.

I would think a team with veteran pitchers would reap huge benefits with Lucroy. He wouldn't have to work with pitchers as much and pitch framing veterans has show to be much more successful. Lucroy could help out a veteran staff a lot.

Lets proceed like this. Lind is traded. Braun isn't your 1b of the future, but Santana and thus the CF search Stearns is after. As to Seattle matching up, Didn't Seattle have a coveted 2b/SS trio to peg from end of 2014 to early 2015? Brad Miller was one. He was to be more of a 2b if I recall. I wouldn't mind him as part of the package. Some Pitcher in the deal or Zunino would be fine. Miller/Zunino for Lind. Theres a nice ceiling potential to pluck from potentially at positions of future need.

This dozen teams interested in Lind is a [expletive deleted by moderator] rumor. There are not 12 2016 contending teams that need a 1B and/or DH. My guess is that their could be 2-4 teams interested in Adam Lind for one year on the cheap.

Orioles

Pirates

Tampa

Cleveland

St. Louis

Houston

White Sox

Twins (may have before signing the guy from Korea)

Seattle

Angels

That's 10. Perhaps I'm missing a team or two. And maybe a couple of teams that don't need him checked in because they were entertaining dealing their current DH or 1B. Just a thought.

Nice list and post. I'll eat crow on that one.

Lind to Twins for Kepler who can play 1B & all 3 OF spots..... Twins throw in another prospect.

Kepler is an intriguing prospect, but do the Twins need a 1B with Mauer playing there?

Forgot about he Korean player they signed. They do have Mauer. Lind would DH and give him breaks. However really don't see this happening anymore.

What about LuCroy for Pollock?

Makes no sense for either side. AJ Pollock is the most underrated player in baseball. They already have a decent catcher and we don't need to be trading 2 years of Lucroy for just an extra year of control of another player.

I don't think one year of Lind won't get you Kepler. Plus, Minnesota doesn't have the need after signing the guy from Korea (I can't recall his name).

Lots of speculation that Lind to Seattle is imminent. There aren't a ton of great prospects in the Mariners' organization so it'll be interesting to see what the Brewers might get back

D.J. Peterson is a possibility, but he hasn't been able to hit AA Ball yet

I still don't see the Brewers coveting Peterson. I have a feeling Edwin Diaz would be a more attractive main piece to them. Can still see guys like Powell or Yarbrough as possibilities in a mulitple piece trade.

Also would not be shocked to see one of the Mariners 2015 draft picks involved in the trade. RHP Nick Neidert was their first selection (#60 overall selection) and RHP Andrew Moore their second selection (#72 overall). The Mariners 3rd round pick, CF Braden Bishop was reportedly a guy the Brewers liked going into the draft and he attended a predraft workout at Miller Park.

In most cases I would advocate for a quality over quantity trade, but in the case of a trade with the Mariners I think quantity might actually be the better route since their top prospects are far from a sure thing.

One interesting side note, if the Brewers did pick-up Diaz to pair with Jorge Lopez, they would have the two highest drafted players ever out of Caguas Military Academy in Puerto Rico.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I agree that I'm hoping Sterns squeezed multiple prospects out of a Lind trade with the Mariners.

I'm hoping for

Piece #1: 1B/3B DJ Peterson or RHP Edwin Diaz

Piece #2: C Mike Zunino or RHP Nick Niedert or OF Tyler O'Neil

Piece #3: LHP Alex Yarborougor LHP Jacob Brentz or CF Braden Bishop

This may be wishful thinking but I feel that we should at least get 2 players from the top two "pieces" or three from the bottom two "pieces".

Go Sterns!

Per MLB TRADE RUMORS...

The Mariners are “close” to acquiring Lind, Rosenthal tweets. Tom Haudricourt of the Journal Sentinel, meanwhile, writes that there’s speculation that 3B/1B D.J. Peterson could be part of the Brewers’ return. Peterson, the 12th overall pick in the 2013 draft, hit well in the low minors but struggled last season at Double-A Jackson, batting .223/.290/.346 in 393 plate appearances there.

He had a terrible go of it last year so there'should definite concern but he'said exactly the kind of I guy I'd be targeting for Lind. He was a top 50 prospect to start the year last year and he can potentially play a position of need for us.

Good buy low candidate. He was respectable in his first go at AA, but feel off a cliff this year. Maybe something is wrong and an easy fix gets him back on track. For Lind he is a solid piece with one or two others to go with him.

So maybe Peterson, Zunino, and a lower level guy?

Total high risk, high reward potential there.

These are two former high first round picks with power plus at positions of need (assuming Luc goes).

That would be a heck of a trade for one year of a very good but not elite 1B.

Ive been very underwhelmed with DS so far but this would be quite a haul.

I don't know if it is a good haul...about what I would expect. Zunino and Peterson while have high ceilings, but both are very very high risk. Their floors are about as low as one can go.

However I like both in the future. Peterson can be an average 1B some day and I think Zunino has a chance to be an average everyday catcher. While that is nothing ground breaking hard to argue with what we are trading to them. Lind is a rental, not free financially wise, and can't hit lefties. There is also that sliver of hope that one or both of them could end up being above average which would be amazing.

Oh boy, the worst hitter in baseball in Zunino and a guy in Peterson who couldn't hit AA pitching last year. What a haul that would be! I know Lind didn't have a lot of trade value, but that really proves it. I must say I really can't wait to watch Zunino strike out every other AB.

Zunino's stats make Bob Uecker look like a HOF player.

For Lind it would be head up trade for Zunino. M's have told teams already he is unavailable. Not sure Lind is enough to get him away.

DJ Peterson plus maybe a low level high ceiling type player is best case scenerio

Same as above goes for Diaz.

Overall, Lind has value but we are not going to bring in a truckload for him. Parra we thought would bring us multiple talented pieces and it got us 1 player in return who projects to be no more than a back end arm. We has fans overvalue a lot

Peterson has the talent to figure it out. Mike Moustakas has a similar hit tool as DJ Peterson and two seasons ago he could barely hit his weight, but then last year everything clicked and he was a vital player in the Royals World Championship Team. The Brewers would have the time to let Peterson work through his struggles with the hope he can reach his potential at a position (3B or 1B) of organizational need.
