That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Cubs just announced the NLCS rotation. Starting Lester game 1 and Arrieta game 2. Which would then make Lester game 5 and Arrieta game 6. I'm not sure about this. If Arrieta is game 1 and 5 he could be available for 7 if needed, and if not will be ready for game 1 of WS.

As far as the matchups, all Mets pitchers are pretty much created equal so that doesn't matter. If they face LAD, which is most likely, they will have Kershaw game 2 and Greinke game 3 but one of the also rans in game 1. Why not roll Arrieta game 1 at LAD and take your for sure win on the road that you need. Heck, if you win game 1 you might even consider saving Lester for game 3 at home instead of going against Kershaw. I suppose his logic would be that Lester can beat the nobody game 1 and Arrieta has a much better shot vs Kershaw than anyone else. I think I'd rather just take my guaranteed game 1 win and have Arrieta back sooner.

Here's a song from the same era. It wasn't written for a specific team, but since it was the theme song for Cubs radio broadcasts for years, I'll post it in their honor.

Listening to Chicago sports radio on the way to work ( I really enjoy it when their teams lose) they said they didnt want to wear out Arrieta and Lester wont have pitched in 8 days. That was the main reason for Lester starting game 1.

And I actually enjoy their team. It was easy to hate the last good team with people like Zambrano, Dusty, Theriot. Nothing to dislike with these guys so far, bunch of young kids playing hard and having fun. And their star pitcher was a nobody late blooming prospect. Our dislike is really about what it will do the fans, they were unbearable 10 years ago when they were good. Can't imagine what they'll be like if they win it all (they'll be bad anyway just off the run they've had so far). It such a good story though, especially with the BTF thing with it.

Also, that city will be torn apart if they win. Maybe Wrigley will burn down and they can actually build a good stadium down there then

The four teams left in the MLB postseason rank 10th, 11th, 14th & 15th in team payroll this year.

I'm honestly surprised the Royals made it into the top half of payroll, but they have added a lot of "veteran" type players. Astros and Pirates were in the bottom half of payroll as well.

I'm really wondering why the Jays didn't relieve David Price well before he completed the task of giving up the three run lead in the 7th.

In hindsight, yes, he should have been pulled but he was throwing strikes and they were all singles. There is something to be said about putting the ball in play. Taking walks and swinging for the fences is great when it's working but sometimes you just need to put the ball in play.

With Cecil injured the Jays only have one LHP in the bullpen. They have to be judicious as to when to use Loup. They kept Price in to face the Royals' LH hitters Hosmer, Moustakas, and Gordon.

Why hasn't Buehrle been added as a lefty out of the bullpen? He doesn't have "reliever stuff" but he throws strikes.
