Yadiel Rivera and Tyler Wagner recalled; Michael Reed, Adrian Houser, Yhonathan Barrios, and Jorge Lopez have contracts purchased from Biloxi

And That
Or they want to give Arcia some rest before winter ball begins. Since he's Venezuelan, and since Venezuela participates in the Caribbean Confederation, he's not eligible for the AFL.

If Reed is any indication, it's not like Counsell would've played Arcia.

Gotta love the Macha approach to playing young position player prospects over older career MLB bench/AAAA guys

Granted Schaefer has played well, at least give Reed a look

Has he? Over the last month he's hitting .222/.308/.289. Since he became a fairly regular starter a couple weeks ago he's hitting .263/.349/.342. Much better than what it was but not so good that you keep playing a 29 year old basically career minor leaguer over a prospect that might actually be part of your future.

Melvin or someone said he wasn't brought up because there wouldn't be enough playing time for him. Makes sense with Segura, Perez, Sardinas on the roster.

That's what I was getting at. I don't agree or like it but since they gave him everyday time he is hitting like you said .260 with .700 OPS with good defense. Craig right now sadly like Macha seems to value decent career AAAA player performance over give a young potential solid MLB player some experience

play Rivera the last two weeks at 3rd

I agree. The one game I saw him play at 3B in the Chattanooga series, he was quite good at the hot corner. I know he does not have a lot of power, but maybe he can be the future until we have a future 3B. A MLB career backup would be ok.

I deleted the off topic stuff.

If you have a problem with a particular post or poster it's probably best to alert a moderator. Confronting them in a thread is not going to solve matters.

Find some team to take garza for whatever or buyout contract. Jorge Lopez skips a death trap in AAA to take Garza's spot. That may be my biggest hope for 2016

Schafer getting playing time might be Counsel getting an extended look at him. Yes, Schafer's got a track record, but letting the guy get some extended PT might his way of seeing if he's part of the future, whether as an option in CF next year, or simply as a reserve.

I'm not advocating either way, but it's just a thought.

The likely thing is that Reed was brought up as depth after guys like Braun and Herrera were sidelined (plus Peterson hurt his arm, and Davis his ankle). Getting a 10-game look at Reed just might not be a priority right now compared to a longer look at Logan. Again, I'm not saying what's right or wrong - just saying that might be their plan. We've mostly written off Schafer, but the club might be doing one last assessment on the guy, and seeing how he might fit in next year's plan (if at all).

I have the same sense as reillymcshane about the Schafer-Reed thing. I'd rather see Reed, but he's probably ticketed for AAA to start next year, and they may want to use Schafer in cf so that the young pitchers get some balls caught behind them. I'd be more aggressive with Reed, but it's a marginal call.

Yeah, it is probably one last look at Schafer but with Stearns it may not even matter. I try to read into some of the moves made in September but in the end is probably pointless since Stearns has the final say. Everything is so up in the air and unpredictable which makes me so excited to see what they do in the off season.

Here's a nice article about Jorge López's son's struggle with a mysterious autoimmune disorder. He's currently in a hospital in Cincinnati, which offers the best treatment for this sort of thing. The $40,000 that Jorge will make during his short time with the Brewers will go a long way toward supporting the boy and his mother over the course of the winter.

Prospect Lopez thankful for shot with Brewers

Lopez earned about $1,500 a month this season at Double-A. In the Majors, the minimum salary works out to just shy of $85,000 per month, plus a $100 per diem on the road, so Lopez will earn more than $40,000 during his two-week stint in the Majors. Those paychecks will help tremendously in covering the costs associated with Mikael's health care and housing in Cincinnati for Karla.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

That is a situation where I would've hoped the Brewers organization stepped in and helped this man cover the bills for his son.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
