The unhittable Hader

molitor fan

Josh Hader has been extremely difficult to hit since June 28th. If his one clunker is removed (a 3 2/3 performance against Mississippi), Hader has thrown 27 innings, giving up 11 hits, 9 walks for a .67 WHIP, 4 Earned runs - a 1.33 ERA and an astonishing 43 k's - a 14.3/9 inning ratio

Holy crud.

I mean, as sad as it was to lose Gomez... if this is a sign of whats to come, it was absolutely, unequivocally worth it, even knowings its just at AA ball.

This guys reminds a lot of Chris Sale. A tall order but the stats and the arm angle suggests this isn't far off.

And of course since I watch these things, Gomez is at 516 OPS so far. I love the guy, but this has the makings of a game changing trade for us.

I'm the biggest Hader Homer on this site since the trade.... I really believe he is a future top of rotation guy! Right now I peg him as #5 prospect behind:Arcia, Phillips, Lopez, Santana. People forget that he is younger than Nathan Kirby and only a few months older than Ponce. So here he is at 21 becoming dominant at AA as he was dominant at A+ at 20. He just keeps getting better!

Gomez/Fiers trade may have gave us at least 3 very good MLB players and a 4th who is showing he could be a talent as well!

Who's the biggest Hader Homer? :)

I am really excited about the kid. Hard to find a reason to "pump the brakes" on his potential.

Yeah think you may have me lol If I knew how to change my name I'd be right with ya ha

I got into an arguement last week on here because someone only thinks he projects as a #4 or #5 and isn't a top 100 prospect (which he is already ranked by at least 1 big, national, site) but I couldn't disagree more. He is only 21 and has only gotten better while being a top pitcher in every league he has been in.

Man did we luck out when the Mets GM changed his mind.

Was thinking same thing this morning....praise Sandy! Wheeler & Flores don't even come close to the hale we got

Totally agree. I didn't like the Mets trade right away, was happy to see it fall through. The more I learn about what we got back from Houston the more I like, hopefully at least two of these guys end up as quality big leaguers, and anything more than that is gravy. And as of now it looks like more than two.

To be fair, adding Fiers to the deal had a lot to do with the return.

I'm assuming the deal was Santana, Hader, & Houser it sounds like. When Astros, offered up Phillips to throw in Fiers is what got the deal done. So if you compare the two trades it's would you prefer wheeler/Flores or Santana/Hader/Houser for Gomez.

Closer, but from all the comments I read, it wasn't that simple. But yes, it looks like even without Phillips, getting the other 3 instead of Wheeler/Flores is a much better deal- at least today. Partly because Houser has been better than just a run-of-the-mill decent AA pitcher.

I really doubt it was phillips for fiers. Im betting it was more like moran, santana, and hader for gomez but including fiers upgraded moran to phillips and got houser involved. When my buddy first called me about the mets trade, my only response was "why? that deal is garbage!". When news of the astros deal dropped, totally different response! The deal that got made is so much better for us, even with Mike's no hitter. I'm thinking most likely 3 of the 4 turn into solid major leaguers.
