At this point, why not start Gennett against lefties (and Perez against righties)? Why not give them some more practice against their weaknesses? I can understand if it is against a team in contention, as it is an "unwritten rule" that you play your starters against contenders. But against the Marlins, Phillies, Reds, etc., why not?

How are we losing to the Fish? Justin Nicolino is going to be a pretty good pitcher (he was their #2 pitcher in the minors behind Andrew Heaney, who the Fish inexplicably traded). But he's not Jose Fernandez, and they have no Giancarlo Stanton yet.

Dee Gordon has been on fire of late (well, all season). 7 multi-hit games in his last 11 games, including a pair of 3-hit games. Hitting .333 on the year, and should steal 50 +. The only thing he doesn't do is walk. If he ever learns a little more patience, he's going to be a great leadoff hitter for a long time.

Brauny with another RBI. 2 for 2 with a walk tonight. Currently 9th in the NL in home runs (21), stolen bases (18), RBI (71) and 5th in runs scored (69).

It's baseball. Every team wins 1/3rd of their games, every team loses 1/3rd of their games. Some times players have bad games, some times inexplicably good games. Garza wasn't the 5+ ERA pitcher he was early in the season, and he's not the 2.35 ERA pitcher he has been since the All-Star break.

Dee Gordon is leading the league in hits, so it isn't just some hot streak. I also laugh at how some people think that stolen bases don't matter. Maybe the actual stat doesn't matter, but the threat of stolen bases and speed on the basepaths makes pitchers make a lot of mistakes to subsequent hitters. It also allows subsequent hitters to sit on more fastballs. It's just hard to prove statistically because it's really hard to make a control to compare it to.

I've never heard anyone say that stolen bases don't matter. However, it's generally not worth the risk of making an out.

I said he'd been hot the whole season. As for the rest, thank you for stating the obvious.

We get all of the Marlin games down here in southwest FL and the fish are better than the Phillies even with all of their injuries and no Stanton. I love watching him hit. He is just a beast. They were singing Braun's praises like crazy saying he's having a nice year. Perhaps they like him so much because he is a U of Miami alum.

The Marlin announcers just love coming to Milwaukee!! They show us all the fun tailgating things going on before the game, show Bernie up near his slide, Uecker's seat in the upper deck and the Selig Experience. They even showed the sausage race when we returned to the game after the break in the middle of the sixth. I guess the 3 guys calling the game each picked a winner for the race but the Hot Dog won instead. :laughing
