That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Counsell was ejected in the top of the seventh for arguing an overturned call, although the ump gave him a long leash, probably because the call was so strange. Still, if a call is overturned, why bother arguing? You're complaining to the wrong guy. It'll be interesting to see what Craig has to say.

The call was bull and if MLB is going to make this type of overrule, I'd prefer them to dump replay completely. The umpire says they told him Segura never had possession. How do you tell from the replay? It was an umpire judgement call that was incorrectly (in my view) overruled based on supposition and nothing else.

Wow, that is an out. You can clearly see him catch the ball and when he tags him, Utleys foot steps on the glove opening it and allowing the ball to come out. And even that takes 3 seconds. Im pretty sure even the NFL would have ruled that a catch! What it looked like to me is that counsell just wanted an explanation, but the ump kept saying we cant talk about it. What can't they talk about. Can the ump not tell him what the replay guys explanation was?
Remember what Yoda said:

No, and that's part of the problem. We don't get an explanation from New York. That component needs to be included in the review process.

When a call on the field is overturned, the ump essentially becomes an innocent bystander. But even with an explanation from New York, the manager would still be barking up the wrong tree when arguing with the ump.

If it's up to New York, the umps shouldn't be getting any explanation. Just a rule of safe/out whatever is being reviewed. By doing so, what can you argue? Thus the automatic ejection when you do. It's to save time on what likely was an already dragging on phone call to decide.

It certainly makes sense to want to save time. I suppose that the explanation wouldn't need to be so immediate that it delays the start of play. And it wouldn't necessarily have to be delivered to the umps on the field. But there should be one in some way, shape, or form.
