Four Astros Prospects Acquired

Wonder now what the plan for Tyrone Taylor is. If Phillips is the CF of the future then Taylor has a lot of players challenging for corner positions. There of cours is Braun and Davis at the MLB level but also guys like Santana, Reed, Roach and Coulter around the same age. Should be interesting to see who prevails or is traded.

Yeah I was thinking same thing as well. Also, does Reed get promoted to make room for Phillips? I don't aww how you can keep Phillips, Reed, Roache, Taylor on same team.... No DH who you sit?

Houser debuts with new club

Dekota Gregory, Pryor Creek (OK) Times Sports Correspondent

After being traded to the Milwaukee Brewers organization from the Houston Astros last week, former Locust Grove pitcher Adrian Houser made his first impression Monday night for the Biloxi Shuckers, Milwaukee’s Double-A affiliate.

Houser didn’t disappoint, giving up three runs in 5 2/3 innings against division-leading Mobile Bay Bears, an Arizona Diamondbacks affiliate. The right-hander was tossing a shutout until the sixth inning and struck out six batters while giving up seven hits in the appearance.

“It was kind of weird not playing with the same guys that I’ve been playing with my whole pro career, but it was still the same game I’ve been playing since I was five years old,” Houser said. “I mean I wanted to make a good impression, but I didn’t feel any pressure. I just wanted to keep things rolling from my last start and I feel like I did that.”

Houser was also able to go back to his high school roots at Locust Grove Monday night. The former center-fielder stepped up to the plate for the first time since leading the Pirates to a state title in 2011, and also wore the same number he repped in high school, twelve. Houser went 0-2 at the dish, grounding out his first at bat and striking out during his final visit.

“I actually kind of did feel like I was going back to my high school days,” Houser said. “I was thinking about it as I was sitting in the dugout. It was pretty cool. I enjoyed it.”

The move to Biloxi rounded out a chaotic two-month stretch for Houser. The former second round draft pick was pitching in Lancaster, CA June 16 as a member of the JetHawks, Houston’s Class A Advanced affiliate. After being called up to Double-A by the Astros organization, Houser spent the next month with the Corpus Christi Hooks until being traded July 31.

“It’s been kind of hectic,” Houser said. “I’ve been doing a lot of packing. Luckily, I’m a professional packer by now and know how to make it easy and quick. And been looking for places to stay. But, it’s been kind of fun to see all of the new places. It’s part of the job I guess you could say.”
