Gomez was really emotional. Really going to miss him.

Yep....he loved being a Brewer.....hope we get a chance to see him again at Miller Park

For sure. My favorite player since Molitor. Worth the price of admission to the park. There's not many players I'd say that about. A real nice deal for the Brewers though. Hope to see Gomez playing in the post-season.

I couldn't agree more. He brings color to a game where color is discouraged. His antics with the gum, the swinging his helmet off, his airmailed throws.....I will miss them all.

My favorite quote from today is when Carlos said, "I'm playing and I feel really sexy."

Assuming the Astros keep him next year and with what they gave up, you have to imagine they will, you'll see him at Miller Park next year since we're scheduled to play the AL West and played in Houston a few years ago.

Meh. I don't get too excited over "a team's" top prospect. Just because they are top prospects for that team, doesn't mean they are top prospects in general. I looked at each of their pages on Baseball America and don't see that any of them were ever ranked in year end top 100 prospects lists. Someone mentioned that two of them were rank in this year's mid season top 100 prospect list. Can anyone provide a link to that? I'm not sure where to locate that.

Phillips is #21 on the mid season top 50 which is a good indicator where he will be going into next season.

Domingo Santana was in the mlb.com top 100 going into the season and is on other top 100 lists.

Patrick, Astros system is better/deeper than the Brewers, so those rankings are significant. Four guys with true, legit potential

Yes. Something foreign to us: they're 21, 21, 22, 22. A change from our usual 27 year old "prospects".

I will really, really miss Gomez. He's one of my favorite all-time Brewers and the interview during the game sealed the deal on that. It is very unusual where we trade 2 players that I really respect and enjoyed watching. It seems like we got some good players back, but there are players I'd much rather see the Brewers trade just from a people perspective. Thanks you Carlos and Mike for your years with the organization.

Also, I hope Gomez pisses someone off in the playoffs with his hustle and someone whines about how he doesn't do things the 'right' way. :)

I would rather of just won with guys like Gomez on the team and in 25 years put his number up on the OF walls. Hate that there wasn't more success with him here.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I wouldn't be surprised if his number is up there some day to be honest...

Well, at least him scoring the winning run in the NLDS is the pinnacle of our success the last 32 years.

I suddenly find myself hoping that the Astros play the Cardinals in the WS and Gomez does something and (gasp) celebrates, thereby irritating all of Cardinal nation. Because, you know, they are the arbiters of the "right way to do things."

It is weird to see the Brewers make a trade and have the board almost in unanimous agreement that it was a good trade. I was good with last night's trade that wasnt but I like this deal a lot more. With Phillips joining Arcia we could have two top 20 prospects by the end of the year. Hader was #67 in Sickels mid-season ranking and Santana was #71 before the start of the year. That is 3 guys in the top 75 to go with some exciting other guys the Brewers have. Would love to add at least one more pitcher who is top 100ish but overall the farm system is looking up.

This is so much better than the Mets trade, bless you cold-footed Wilpons!!!

Outfielders are not as big of an area of "need" as a SP for us, but Phillips and Santana are both studs, and we are getting 12 years of team control. Plus Hader who is a legit SP prospect, and Houser who seems like a flier the Brewers like, and it's a better trade. Adding Fiers is tough, but he's 30 years old, and we're rebuilding...

This allows them to unload Khris Davis at some point too. Santana is a monster: 6'5", 22-years-old in AAA, 326 PA, 16 HR, .320/.426/.582/1.008

Wow - Keith Law on BBTN thinks the Brewers should have gotten more out of the deal than they did.

Thinks Phillips is above average, but the other guys...not so much.

Keith Law doesnt like the Brewers prospects. There is a first

I'm 100% on the Astros World Series bandwagon this year. If nothing else, I'll have a reason to watch the playoffs now.

Game 7, 9th inning walkoff grandslam by Gomez vs St Louis. Into the short porch, so they can cry about that forever.
