Where would Pittsburgh play Gomez with Marte, Cutch and Polanco already there? I get Polanco has underwhelmed to a degree this year, but he's shown signs of life lately and I can't believe they're ready to move on from him.

Where would Pittsburgh play Gomez with Marte, Cutch and Polanco already there? I get Polanco has underwhelmed to a degree this year, but he's shown signs of life lately and I can't believe they're ready to move on from him.

 

Put Gomez in center, Cutch in right, and Polanco as 4th OF.

 

Short version, the Pirates gain Gomez's plus D and they gain about 90 points in OPS over Polanco.

Josh Bell is probably more protected than any other Pirates prospect because they have no 1B option when Alvarez leaves for Free Agency. They have no need for any OF players, especially since Josh Harrison plays 3B/2B/OF, and when he's healthy, he will more than likely take Polanco's spot when he's not spelling Ramirez at 3B.
