s: the Dodgers will receive right-hander Mat Latos and first baseman Michael Morse from the Marlins. They’ll also add top prospect Jose Peraza and pitchers Alex Wood, Jim Johnson and Luis Avilan from the Braves. Atlanta, in turn, will receive Cuban infielder Hector Olivera, lefty Paco Rodriguez and minor leaguer Zachary Bird from the Dodgers. The Braves are also picking up Miami’s Competitive Balance Round A pick in next year’s draft (No. 35 overall). The Marlins will come out of this deal with three minor league pitchers — Kevin Guzman, Jeff Brigham and Victor Araujo — plus the financial relief of shedding the remaining $14.3MM that is owed to Latos and Morse.

 

So the Braves give up Jose Peraza, Alex Wood, Jim Johnson, and Luis Avilan for Hector Olivera, Paco Rodriguez, Zach Bird, and a draft pick. I don't see what the Braves are doing with this one. Olivera is going to be their 3B, I think they went pretty hard after him in free agency but they gave up a young starter, a top prospect and a valuable bullpen piece for an injured reliever, a questionable minor leaguer, and a pick.

Bronson Arroyo is also going to the Dodgers. Pretty sure he won't pitch this year and this just the Braves once again treating him like an NBA'er.

The Braves basically gave up a top 25-50 prospect to for Olivera and salary relief. Now if Olivera was 25, sure. But he's 30 and the Braves are in rebuilding mode. I don't get it.

There must be 2 Georgia Born SPs for them to choose in the 2016 draft, and they now can have both. Peraza and Simmons? Or Georgia SP and Simmons?....Though Alex Wood was a Georgia product himself.
