Schroeder wouldn't call Segura a free swinger because "he doesn't strike out a lot." Oof.

 

People like to blame strikeouts on not being patient, but I think that more often than not, the opposite is true. If a hitter is patient and sees a lot of pitches, strikeouts are going to happen. On the other hand, you have guys like Yuni; he certainly wasn't patient. He didn't strike out much because he put balls in play right away via weak grounders and popups.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

That's what I was trying to point out. It's just so dumb when you think about it. Free swingers typically don't strike out a lot because they swing and make contact before they get to two strikes.
