Anyone nail it?

Relatively new to the boards but love seeing the insight from everyone.

Just wondering with all the speculation, names thrown out and different teams, anyone nailed a Melvin trade on these boards since he's been GM? He seems like he's a little more secretive on trades than some other GM's.

I posted a proposal on the JSOnline of Odorizzi, Cain, Jeffress and Escobar for Greinke about 2 weeks before the deal went down. FTR I wasn't in favor of doing it as we had no replacement for Escobar.

Not completely but it isn't all that hard to guess on who the Brewers are targeting in trades you just need to ask the scouts at the games. It is far harder to find out who the Brewers are going to draft than it is to find out who they are targeting in a trade.

Close, but not as close as you claim:

From June 2008 (just before the CC Sabathia trade). 1.5 years before the Grienke trade:

LaPorta

Escobar / Salome

Then 2 of any of these prospects:

Gillespie, Cain, Brantley, Gwynn, Irribarren, Nelson, Lucroy, Brewer, Braddock or the Lefties in AAA and AA

for

Greinke

and relief pitcher

Or closer to the actual trade, but further from nailing it:

Ive thought all along that Gavin Floyd would be the guy we most likely landed. If Melvin could somehow land Zack Greinke for a deal around Brett Lawrie our rotation goes from awful to exceptional.

I wish we could have done Pogokat's trade..unless of course Zach Greinke was a different guy than Zack Greinke. Kind of like Ryan Braun the pitcher vs. our Braun. Then I say no.

what about:

Gamel

Salome

Jeffress

A ball pitcher

for

Alex Gordon

Zach Greinke

we give up a bunch but we get back the pitcher we want and a 3b that has every bit as much potential as gamel..

regardless, those are the three of our top prospects i feel the best giving up...trading away escobar might be a good idea as well...still don't think he's going to be more than an average hitter in the majors..

If you're willing to give up Escobar, Cain, Odorizzi and another one of our top pitching prospects like Rogers/Jeffress/Rivas then you could land Greinke but I wouldn't do it.

Well, it would've been awesome, and I was right about Alcides
