Johnny White and Chase Reid

I've got a question about 2 of your draft picks: Jonathan White and Chase Reid. My question for you all is whether these 2 have signed contracts yet. ESPN.com reported that they both did, but I can't find anywhere else to support that. Can anyone give me a definitive answer?

I'm a Vandy grad but am attending law school at Marquette, so I've become somewhat of a Brewers fan over the past year. However, I'd love to see White back on campus and for Reid to make it to Vandy, so that's why I'm here. Thanks for any answers.

Welcome aboard and thanks for visiting.

No wonder we didn't find anything on Michael Reid earlier -- he goes by Chase.

Please disregard the ESPN post -- it listed all Brewer picks and was very incorrect. Please refer to the "Official" thread pinned to the top of this forum. Names in bold have signed.

Scroll down and you'll also see articles on White.

Vanderbilt rarely loses players like Reid and White, whether it be as high school recruits (Reid) or as a draft-eligible sophomore who stands to earn more playing time and show what he can do. I wouldn't worry about the Commodores losing either one.

I figured it was an error but just wanted to make sure. I was at the NCAA Tournament in Nashville and one of my friends spoke with White's dad and told him White was likely to return unless he was a really high pick and White was quoted as saying the same thing in an article last week. White had his moments this past year, but I'd love to see what he can do as a full time player.

As to Reid, we were confused because we didn't think he got drafted at all until a poster pointed out that Michael Reid was actually Chase Reid. I'm less concerned about losing pitchers to the draft now because of the results of our pitching coach Derek Johnson (Sowers in 04, Price and Weathers in 07).

You're also spot on about VU not losing players to the draft. We've lost our fair share of elite prospects (Kyle Waldrop would have been starting with David Price...scary) but our recent success has scared scouts away from even drafting the likes of Curtis Casali and Aaron Westlake.

I have seen Chase pitch he needs college to get stronger, he sat 87-89 most of the game I saw him pitch, during the UIL playoffs in Texas, nice Slider, very projectable but needs to get stronger! Vandy will be a good fit for him!

He goes to South Lake Carrol High School, not Carrol High School, they are the dominate sports school in Texas...Football team won 5 state titles in a row...has an indoor facility that makes the McClain Center look small!
