Baseball Game (video game concept idea)

Web Jim Edmonds
Would you be interested in playing a basegall game (video game of course) in which you play an entire season and the code in the game analyses how you managed your bullpen (taking starting out when they get in trouble etc etc) and your bullpen arms get injured and or lose efficiency if you over use them? You know how we often times say managers don't know what they are doing? If they made a game that analyzed how you 'managed' the team for a complete season would you be interested in it? There would be so many nuances of a game like this to test how well you are at making the right moves at the right times.

I thought that games like Strat-o-matic and others had been using injury and fatigue ratings for years.

APBA's Baseball for Windows was released 20 years ago or more, and that game had a usage governor, which required pitchers to rest for varying lengths of time based on how they had been used.

Yea, baseball games have had stamina ratings and recovery rates for a long time.

IIRC when you bring a pitcher back too soon they start with a lower stamina so they don't throw as well and cant throw for as long. I don't know if injuries are more likely but I would guess they are.

But that is separate from a managerial rating. I'm not sure you could really make an accurate rating system though since as far as I know there isn't even a clear cut way to rate managers in real life.

I could see any ratings system being viewed by the player just like real managers view fan complaints: "You don't know what you're talking about."

I'm a few hundred years into my team on OOTP. Still haven't drafted anyone good.

I also liked the manager arguments (and how umpires might toss/not toss you depending on your manager's reputation for arguing) in MVP Baseball 2005. I would go out and argue calls just for the heck of it early in the season, and eventually if I just tapped the argue button (i.e., minimal argument/asking for an explanation, as opposed to hitting the button repeatedly for a full throttle argument), I'd basically get my manager an automatic ejection. Whereas a manager who rarely argued could sometimes go out for a heated argument and not get tossed (and the game commentators would mention how effective the argument was if you did that).

Another great part of that game. Also if a pitcher was getting tired and you did a mound visit to give your pen more time to warm, the pitcher would gain stamina if it was deemed positive or lose more stamina if it was deemed a negative reaction. That game is so great. All the little things.
